As a journalist for another online magazine, I covered a local Inauguration watching event. Legions of people showed up to view history. The First African American to be inagurated was sworn in Tuesday, an event I never thought I would see. What does it mean to you out in cyberland? Has the novelty worn off yet?

First of all, he was the first bi-racial American to be President - not the first African-American President. That said, I find it interesting that while anyone who mentions his ancestry in any kind of negative way is called racist, but yet once he was elected, it was all about his race and him being the "first" - somewhat of a double standard, I would say! Second, in a time of extreme economical distress in our country, with millions of people without jobs and losing their homes, to spend such an extreme amount of the inauguration was totally irresponsible and inappropriate.

I think that the Inauguration was fantastic and I was really happy to see Barack Obama elected. I know that many many people watched it and most were very enthusiastic to see Obama as the next President. I thought it was a very moving and satisfying celebration.
