Most of us have our own PC. But which things are most important to decide before buying this. I think to buy a company's PC is not good. i want to buy assembled. it is best for me. I think its processor, RAM , hard disk etc have an importance to do work fast and smoothly. I think 1GB RAM is sufficient to do work fast. But it is depends upon your choice and type of work. if we want to do programming then we need extra RAM. but in simple work we can to work in a simple way.

It all depends on your purpose of buying a computer. If you are a heavy user, meaning you use the computer for multimedia, programming, or the like, then better buy a high end computer. Otherwise, the common models will do.
You should consider four things:
1. Processor (Speed of Computation)
2. Memory (Multitasking Capacity)
3. Video Memory (For better and faster graphics)
4. Storage (How much data can be stored)
As far as I know, the best available specs out there are:
1. Processor: Dual Core, such as Intel Core 2 Duo
2. Memory: 3 GB or more, 32-bit systems are limited to 3 GB
3. Video Memory: 512 MB or more
4. Storage: 1 Terabyte, imagine that!
Don't forget to consider the Additional Features and Peripherals!

Well if you are planning to install windows vista then i think 1 gb ram would be nothing. You should go for 4 GB ram if you are using vista and you want a fast system. I think core 2 dual processor will make it really fast but it actually depends on your budget. It would be a bit expensive.

Hi Rizzu,
I agree with you on the 1Gb of ram for Vista is actually useless. Vistas minimum recomended ram is 512mb that would run slow. Dont forget you would need some form of anti-virus / Internet security package which will use approx 256mb ram. That already is 768mb. So anything over 2gb would be ok.
With having more than 3gb of ram you would need to run the 64bit version of vista as the normal 32bit has got a limit of using 3gb because of the memory allocation limitation.
So the things to look for when buying a machine (depending on what you are using it for are):
1. The highest CPU that you can afford.
2. Minimum of 2gb Ram if you are using Vista
3. 64bit version of Vista if you are wanting to use more than 3Gb of ram.
4. Make sure the HDD is SATA connection as it is the faster transfer (mind you all HDD in new machines should be this now)
I hope this helps.
