disaster in the kitchen

For years I have been an excellent cook. I was able to make anything from out of a cook book to my own creations and my family gave me full responsibility for feeding them meals. Now recently I am a disaster in the kitchen. Nothing turns out right even if I follow directions. Any advice on what I should do to help this problem of mine? Maybe I should take a break from cooking!

Hi, as a mother, I well understand your puzzle. Actually there is nothing disastrous in your kitchen. As in a marriage, we cannot expect the whole marriage life tremendously exciting after the first few years. Afterwards, it is the responsibility and if not consequences that make us tied to the family members. It is so natural that we are living a plain life, for which everybody makes his or her contribution. Back to your cooking, it is blessing that your family is well bred, healthy and happy. If you feel like it, you can attend some sort of programs to try something new, either upgrading in cooking skills, or other hobbies. Life is shiny most of the time. After a period of rain or even storm, fine day will soon be back.

Ah a new hobby sounds keen, I like that. I do believe that those fine days in the kitchen will be back and the ordinary of it will come and go. Thank you for responding, I will have to take up on your idea of a new hobby!

Hi there! I guess that's it. You have to take a break. Or you need to be inspired. I remember that thing happened to me too. When I just felt like cooking, I do and it tastes good. But when I am expected to cook, usually, it tastes just like the ordinary.

The inspiration I guess comes somewhere and I just need to find it again. I do need a break though from the kitchen so I will just have to hand the apron strings to the next of kin for a while until I feel inspired. Thank you!

Well you said it by yourself, you need to take a break, sometime it comes so monotonus that something that you loved to do will become something odd to do. I think you should keep a bit out from the kitchen so to take a break from cooking...

Taking a break from it does sound good. It has become an odd thing to do at the moment so I do hope that another family member will not burn breakfast tomorrow :) Thanks!

Perhaps you pressured yourself much or you were too confident about your past cooking successes. Once you failed, you though you lost the magic. You need to regain the passion you lost for cooking. Food tastes better when prepared with love.

Amen to that! Food does taste better when done with love. I did feel over confident and I am in hopes to get back into the groove of cooking again. Thanks!
