Character names?

i read somewhere that in order not to get sued for sharing the wealth after an author published a book, he always used street names for names of his characters. i think that is a great idea!

While I understand you wanting to have unique names, I have to say that when I read books I get really annoyed if everyone has weird names. It just doesn't ring true and often giving your characters common names is much better. Depends on your genre of course - if it's sci-fi or fantsy then the stranger the better. How about Zigana - hungarian for Gypsy girl.
