Crazy mom drowning her daughters

Why do all the breaking news say stuff like this?
The mom actually killed her two daughters by drowning them in the bath tub. But she wasn't guilty cos the judges found out she was crazy so they let her go.
said she didn't know she was doing the wrong thing. I say she did and was glad to get rid of them kids.
She could have faced death penalty but in jail (where she belongs!). The two kids were - 4 year old Janelle cintrron and 2 year old Cecess Hill
court's pycholodgest said the mad woman suffered from "a major deppresive disorder and pychotic features.

Headlines like this make me sick! I agree that she should be in jail, although I guess only a crazy sick person could do something like that to their own kids! What a sad world we live in!

Our standard for an insanity defense is very tough to meet. You can be crazy as a loon and still if you know the difference between right and wrong then you are not legally insane.
It's the pyschotic features that prevented her from knowing the difference between right and wrong which is why she was determined to be legally insane and therefore not legally guilty of murder.
She won't just be turned loose. She'll be confined to a psychiatric facility for treatment until, if ever, it's judged that she is no longer a threat.
