The Interest categories are not set up by MyLot. They are created by users, so there is nothing 'official' about the Laughing category.
As Mysdianit has said, the Guidelines are there to promote quality discussions. A joke, in itself, is not likely to encourage responses with any substance or quality. The Guidelines should be regarded as helpful rather than restrictive. It is easier and far shorter to give a list of things that are NOT allowed than to list all the things that ARE.
It is true, however, that, when making a topic for discussion, it can be useful to illustrate it and a relevant humorous story or episode may often do that well. That is quite a different matter from just posting a joke. Most people who post jokes merely copy and paste them from emails or the Internet. There is nothing creative or informative about it and that sort of practice is, rightly, frowned upon in MyLot.

yes posting of joke can be allowed but it will get you any earning. As in most of the cases people does not have any thing to response they will read and laugh and say nice jokes . You will not earn anything untill and unless they write a response in few sentences. yes there are certain jokes in which peoples can put their comments nicely and even discuss the matter. that will definately help you. so it depends on material or topic covered in jokes which will make you healthier and wealthier.
happy myloting.

In the Guidelines it states clearly that jokes are not allosed to be posted as discussions.
In the 'don'ts' part it says:
(Don't) Post jokes, recipes, etc. as discussions. This is a form of abuse and all recipes and jokes will be deleted if they are started as a discussion
That does not mean we cannot post funny, humourous things but not jokes. There would be nothing to discuss if a joke is posted as a discussion don't you think?
Happy Lotting!

Oh gosh I am still learning too There are so many things to understand here that even though I have been here quite some time I still do not know all that there is to know.
I can understand what you are saying but I can also understnad why there is this rule. MyLot is for discussions and there are so many other things we can discuss without posting jokes and trying to discuss them which would not be very interesting I guess.
I'm pleased I was able to help you and thank you!
Have fun and happy Lotting!

thanx for the guidance my friend...
i see that you have 4536 postings, so i think that u have enough experience about mylot.
but i think posting jokes should be allowed and paid because we have the "laughing " category, so whatelse will be posted in laughing.
i think jokes should be posted.
