My neighbor has a rabbit, and it has lived outside all summer and most of the fall - it did just fine out there, even in the rain, he just want in his cage. They have an area fenced off and then a cage inside for when it does rain, but the rabbit spent most of its time digging holes outside. Never any problems there.
Now in the winter they keep the rabbit in their house where it's nice and warm. He obviously can't dig holes in there, but it beats staying outside in the snow.

My rabbit can't dog holes. Weird. I thought all rabbits can. She just runs around the house or spends time eating grass and listening to her surroundings.

I have raised show rabbits, I have raised rabbits just for pets, and I have even rescued cottontail bunnies, and set them free once they were strong and big enough to be on their own. Rabbits are very easy to have as a pet, as in your first response said. The only thing, I never had any problems feeding my rabbits lettuce and carrots, along with their regular rabbit food. The only other thing I could add to her response is, depending on where you live, they do not do well in very hot temperatures. That can be remedied by providing a fan or a fan/mist combination to their cage area. They are also very easy to tame, the more you handle them the better, which it is best if you get a rabbit when it is young, or that has previously been owned by someone that handled the rabbit on a daily basis.
