What do you refer to Coke as? I'm a Southerner, so all soda is "Coke", even if it is Mountain Dew, it is Coke. When I go to a restaurant I ask "What kind of 'Coke' do you serve?".
What do you say?

I live in Michigan. Here we call it 'pop'. I'm glad you put that how you ask for it in a restaurant, because I always wondered. I didn't know how you'd specify a regular coke versus say Dr. Pepper or someother kind.

I have relatives in Michigan and we always would laugh at each other when we were teens because of that difference. Of course, we southerners can also hear that northern accent come out each time y'all say "pop", too. It sounds more like "Paawp" wouldn't you say?

I say 'soda'. I would say that among people I know and talk to regularly, it's 50/50 'soda' and 'pop', and a couple people say 'coke' for everything like you do.

Well, we call it cold drinks here, and to be more specific in Hindi the word here in bombay is, "thanda" which means cold. Pepsi is more famous and common here instead of coke I guess,
Cheers,
Bodhi
