Hello mylotters, Here I am again posting a question which I hope you will answer in all honesty. You see I applied for a volunteering job in one of the charity shope here in Dublin. I haven't done a volunteering job before and I don't know what to expect though I'm looking forward to it. Have you experienced volunteering job before? How did it go? Did you find it rewarding in the end? kindly share...

I volunteered with an organization that distributes medical supplies to third world countries. It was very nice, lots of doctors wives. I did for about 2 months. I really love volunteering. I am still trying to find the right volunteer fit.

Oh, volunteering is my dream. Although i was active in charity events last year, i never did volunteer work to them. We only give gifts and rice and some goodies. After that, no more. I do love to volunteer as a teacher or someone to feed the children during lunch or dinner or breakfast. Its a work that makes you feel so proud because your helping people who really need support and care. I was looking forward to volunteer in Gawad kalinga, where they need help and assistance in making houses for the poor. That would be the best thing that will happen this year. Happy mylotting::))

Hopefully that will happen for you this year and I'm sure that they will gladly have your help. I am just wondering is their a process that you have to go through before they accept you as a volunteer?

Hi, yes I've done a lot of volunteering over the years at a variety of places. I've worked in soup kitchens and volunteered my time at hospitals. However, my favorite places that I ever volunteered were in day cares and schools. I have my own young children now and don't have as much time as I used to. I still like to volunteer to work with children whenever I can though. I absolutely find it very rewarding! There is nothing as precious as a child and making a difference in a child's life is to me the most rewarding thing there is. Good luck!

I once was a volunteer at a pregnancy center. At first it was going slow for me because I had just given birth to my daughter and I was frightened to let anyone at the center watch her but then things started going better when I was able to let my guard down and find a skill there I was good at (which was computers; I did their website, checked emails, and wrote out letters to those who gave charity). I found it very rewarding until the place shut down. I was thinking about joining up at the new pregnancy center now and I believe I just got the courage to do so with your discussion :) Thanks, and good luck with your volunteer work!

I did a volunteering job though it wasn't in a shop. I live in a fairly small county in Central Illinois. The ambulance service was manned by volunteers. Two of my daughters and myself went to EMT classes and became volunteers for the ambulance service. We were on call and since there weren't a lot of us we got called out quite frequently. My oldest daughter and I went on later to take the EMT-Paramedic class. My time as an ambulance volunteer was a learning experience from start to finish. Some of the things we saw were not pleasant but it was all part of the job. I would do it again but at my age I am past going out in the fteezing cold in the middle of the night.

Yes, I've done a lot of volunteering. I volunteered for two years at my children's preschool, and voluntarily served on their policy council board. It was very rewarding because I helped hire new teachers, I helped with budgeting, and I was able to bring in lesson plans to the classrooms. I loved planning events with the other parents, and encouraging others to find a way to volunteer. Prior to that I was part of a charitable group that served dinners and banquets to elders. That was a great experience because, when we weren't really busy, we could sit and listen to some of the stories these people enjoyed sharing.

I would also to try doing that kind of volunteering jobs for the elderly. I know there's one here in Ireland. Maybe after this one. Happy posting.

yes, when we were in secondary school and also in college years. it was during the holiday seasons and what a great timing that a storm hits the country. several barangays were flooded because of the excessive rain fall. no food, not enough water to drink and shelter to protect them from the storm. we made a program that aims to help those who are in need. we collected use bottles and newspaper and ask for used clothes and some canned goods to everyone within the community that is not so affected by the storm. we sorted the stuffs and after accumulating almost all the things we need, we set off to the affected barangays and do our share even if the water was as deep as waist down, we still manage to reach the facility where they temporarily settles. having that done, is a great feeling especially knowing it's holiday season. the spirit of gift giving and caring for others was absolutely worthwhile.
