As early as 10 years old my youngest son began having white hair.My husband had his white hair at 20.At the age of 60 all of his hair turned white.I'm 54 years now and I don't even have one single white hair.Maybe I inherited this from my grandmother. She reached the age of 90 with only a few strands of white hair. What about you is white hair your problem now.How often do you die your hair black or are you satisfied even if it is all white?

A friend of mine noticed a gray (or was it white?) strand of hair when I was maybe 8 years old. Yep, you read it right...8 years old. We were in class when she pointed it out. At first I thought she was full of it, but I believed her after she plucked it and showed it to me. Now at 33 years old I have more than a couple of gray hairs, but not enough for me to want to dye my hair...yet. One thing that sucks about being a brunette is that even one gray hair sticks out like a beacon. My husband has noticed that these hairs aren't either gray or white, but rather have no pigment whatsoever so it is actually clear (neither gray or white). But somehow it doesn't make me feel any better.

The first white hair appeared on my head when I was in my mid-40’s and I am darned sure they were caused by my daughters who gave me heaps to worry about. No I do not dye or colour my hair so I now have ‘salt and pepper’ coloured hair, which means it is black with quite a lot of grey through it. Much as I prefer the sound of ‘white hair’ I have to accept it when people say “Gee, you are going grey”. My mother had fair hair or it was originally light brown but went lighter over the years. She was in her mid-60’s and by ten all her hair was white but strangely enough she also had a smattering of grey hairs as well. Two of my brothers also had black hair and they ended up with a fair bit of grey as well when they were in their late 40’s. We take after our father in that regard but my other brother took after Mum as his hair was always very fair and even though he has grey now, it is intermingled with the fair colour. The strange thing is that brother is the spitting image of Dad in looks, all except for the hair colouring that is. Interestingly enough both of my daughters who are only in their 20's have a few grey hairs coming through but both of them colour their hair anwway.

Yes we should be happy with what we have because basically there is nothing we can do to change our situation, other than continually dyeing our hair that is. If the colour of our hair affects us that much so that we cannot be happy, then I would suggest the problem is much deeper than that.

Color does not really matter if you feel happy to accept whatever color our hair have. And white hair is not really the basis of being old.White hair really appears when our melanin layer fails to maintain it black. But whatever color we should be happy.

Hi Erssyl, I got my first grey hair when I was about 17 as my hair was so dark it noticed but I used to dye my hair all sorts of colours then but these days I just cover up the grey with a dark brown as black looks too harsh now I am older. I do mine about once every six weeks. Huggles. Ellie :D

Yes, white hairs does not choose its victims. My son had white hairs as young as 16 years old and am not surprise your son has white hairs at that tender age. Maybe it is in the genes. I am still proud that at this age I still enjoy having my black hairs. Though it is thinning but it is well taken care of. There might be few isolated white hairs but is not obvious to the naked eyes.

My white hair. - The white hair that I started getting at 17, only one year ago.
I started getting my white hair at the age of seventeen, which was only one year ago. It started coming in shortly after I took my senior picture. Maybe the camera stole my soul, or something (haha). I dyed it over shortly before graduation later that year because it was starting to get kind of long and you would be able to see it poking out from under my cap. But I haven't dyed it since then. It's starting to get long again. I've included a semi-recent picture of it so that you can see it for yourself.

Hi ya Erssyl I have a few strands of grey hair but they are not obvious. I guess I first got them soon after my son was born 8 years ago!! LOL . I am now 37 nearly 38 so I don't think I am doing too badly. My mum will be 60 this year and she still has a good head of coloured hair but a lot of grey. I think my dad went grey when he was in his late 20's so it looks as though I will be taking after my mum phew!!

My mother is in her 70's and has barely any grey hair...she looks blond with a little frosting of gray. When we go places people ask her if she's eligible for the senior discounts because they just aren't sure. She looks really good for her age. My sisters and I are in our 40's and each of us have about as much gray hair as she does. I'm guessing that maybe we got ours so much earlier from Dad's side of the family. I like my gray hair. I've earned them I'm keeping it as is.

Here in our country having 50% of their hair turned white makes them very eligible for being a senior citizen. It just a matter of how we accept it.I think we should be happy to accept that we have reached our golden years. Some accept the real facts of aging gracefully but some refuses to admit the fact that they have aged when these white hair appears.I like you for being honest liking your gray hair and not concealing it with dye.

My first gray hair appeared at my 32. But still I am not using dye. Instead I use coconut oil while combing so that those gray hairs are not visible. My gray hairs could be seen when I cut my hair or when I bath. And I won't bother even if it turns completely white, I think. I'm not sure, situations may change.

Does coconut oil really help?My grandmother use to wet my hair with coconut oil when I was young.I sometimes would hide from her then because I did not like the feeling of oil in my hair.

Yeah...it helps in the other way. They give a glossy look, so that the white or gray hairs are not visible.

Hi Erssyl. I am 32 years old now and I didn't see any white hair on me yet. And whenever the time comes that they will all turned to white, I would prefer them to stay as they are. Natural color only and would save me a lot of dyes. Happy myLotting!

They make Clariol for a reason! lol I started getting gray hairs about 15 years ago, I just turned 49. And yes I dye my hair on a regular basis, about one every month or two. Men can get away with salt and pepper or gray hair, but there are not very many women that can pull that off. lol But I also think it is a personal preference.

i am 36 now and there are no signs of grey hair. and as far as i notice slowly my hair is vanishing as well har har har. maybe thats the reason why i dont have grey hair for i dont have that much hair. har har har. it is impressing to know that you are 54 and there are no signs of grey hair on you. i bet you look younger. i think grey hair is hereditary. my wife has a litle grey hair when she was in her teen years. and now that she is 38 there are a lot that is shown.

As long as I can remember I had 3 white hairs at the crown of my head. I remember because my sister used to braid my hair on Sunday mornings and she always pull them out. OUCH! When I was 24 I put a permanent in my hair and for some reason, my hair parted itself on the right side instead of the left and lo and behold there was a streak of white hair right above my right eyebrow. I'm nearing 70 now and I still don't have completely white hair, there's a lot, but you can still tell what color my hair was. I've never dyed it. I just don't have the patience for the upkeep and I can't stand "roots". Both my parents were completely gray very early. My mother always said she'd rather grow old gracefully than to fight it. I guess I'm a lot like her.

Dya know, I really cant remember when I started to go grey. I am coming up to 50 and have never coloured my hair, well not as an adult anyway, I used to bleach it white blonde when I was a teenager. As I have blond hair anyway, it was always difficult to see the grey hairs, they seemed to blend in quite well, but now I look I have quite a lot. I dont mind really, grow old gracefully is what I say, people who I like take me for what I am and Im not about to spend good money on my vanity, gotta feed the dogs first LOL
