don't know if it could be called favourite, but a friend channeled something very nasty at the Station Hotel in Dudley, and myself and that same friend were chased down a corridor by something really wierd. human shaped, but not human, in features or movement.
and Tutbury castle was amazing. just so many things happening there,

Did you go to any well-known or public places? What was your personal "favorite" occurence? Enquiring minds want to know.

It sounds like you have ready access to some interesting places there in the UK.

I came here to open a similar discussion but then I saw yours. Anyway, I'm about to spend a night in a haunted house with my friends. We'll be telling ghost stories in the candle light. Can't wait

Hope no one has sneaked in ahead of times and rigged things, LOL. Are you going to post a discussion about it later on?

We vacationed in Gettysburg PA several years ago. We only planned on staying a few days and that is what we did. We went to a few historical sites and went ghost hunting at night. We never really had much of anything happen in our hotel thankfully. We stayed as long as we wanted and then left. The things we did experience were not terrible enough to make us leave town too early.

We saw things and heard noises mostly. We did hear battle sounding drums at some point and there was not anyone in town reenacting any battles at that point in time so we're not sure what caused it exactly. Sadly the noises were not caught on our cameras at the time.

Bummer! We have a Civil War battle field a bit north of us that supposedly turns up interesting stuff, including seeing people in uniform when there are no re-enactors (sp???) around. And my hubby keeps talking about going to the Bell Witch cave, although I don't think they let tourists through so much anymore.

They say that Gettysburg is fairly haunted due to the battle. What types of things did you experience?

I would love to hear what people have to say about this. I would love to do this - stay at a reported haunted place. One place I really want to go to is the st. augustine lighthouse in florida. ghost hunters went there a couple of times and it was scary.

I'm hoping to get some good ideas from this, myself. I am torn - part of me would like to try staying in a haunted hotel, part of me is saying "NO WAY!" The Stanley Hotel might be interesting.

GH is one of the interests, but I never see any posts in "My Interests" from it... must not be very active.

I did not know you could purposefully look to stay or visit a haunted location.
I would love to do something like that.
I am very sensitive and I grew up in a weird house. Been through a lot.
But some how I cannot stop wanting to learn more.
Get new experiences.
Take care.

Well, with the internet, I think people have access to finding out about purportedly haunted locations. If you are interested, you can probably find some interesting locales.

Yes. Well, kind of. It was a weekend trip my husband and I took. We stayed at the Jefferson Inn in Jefferson, TX. Unfortunately, the most haunted room was already booked, so we took the only room they had left. The only experience we had was hearing someone walk up and down the halls outside the room - hard soled shoes on wood flooring is what it sounded like. Impossible because the halls were carpeted. We watched but didn't see anything. I would love to someday stay at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado. But then, I am a paranormal investigator, so I do look for that kind of thing.

At least it gave you seomthing unexplainable to remember from your trip. I hope you're able to get up to the Stanley at some point in time.

I've not done this myself but would definately consider it becuase I think it would be a really fun time LOL Of course I'm into that sort of thing...
Like someone else mentioned in their reply, I'm curious to hear from those who have done it and find out what their experiences were like etc...

We're like you... we keep talking about it, but haven't yet. We just never seem to get around to it.

I have Always wanted to do this, and hopefully some day I will be able to.
What an experience it would be, whether you saw something or not. They don't always come out when you want them to. Any way you look at it, it has got to be a fun adventure, even if you're just telling your friends what you did.
I'm going to keep an eye on this discussion just to see what people say. I'm really quite curious. I don't know if you're familiar with Ghost Hunters, but I watch them every week and think they just plain rock, lol! They are the only one's I believe are not scammers, and I am very skeptical when it comes to these shows.
On the other hand, I have lived with ghosts/spirits/apparitions...whatever you want to call them. They don't and never have bothered me. Hope you get some good responses on this. Take care.

I've never done that but I would love to! In fact, I'm hoping to go to Ireland for my birthday this year and I've been looking at places to stay that are supposed to be haunted.
My mom and I went to England in March of 2007. I picked the castles and places to visit but without looking into any information about ghosts because I didn't want to go into these places expecting something. I was just going to let things happen and look it up later. And that's exactly what happened.
We went into the Ghost Tower in Warwick Castle. There were a few people ahead of us but when they saw they were remodeling the area and there wasn't much to see at the time, they left. My mom and I were the only ones left in the tower. We stepped into a dark room and read about the remodeling. We were going to leave but there was a curtain that caught my mom's attention. She was just starting to pull it back to take a peek when there was a loud slam, like a big heavy door. I thought my mom was going to pee her pants! LOL...she jumped and said, "Let's get the **** out of here!" I was right behind her and when we turned around to leave, she kept pushing me trying to get out.
Never did get to see what was behind the curtain. LOL

Some places make a booming business out of it. For example, Savannah GA is SUPPOSED to have the highest number of ghosts per square foot, or something like that, and so they have tons of ghost tours. And of course, there is the Queen Mary which many people have heard about. I ran off a list of supposedly haunted locales in my state, but we have never made it to any of them. I am not sure if I would want to stay in a haunted hotel, but I do think just once I would like to visit a spot that is supposed to be haunted. I probably wouldn't notice anything, however.

no i haven't done this and i don't plan to. if i want to go on vacation, i want to be as worry free as possible. having to go to a place where you will be disturbed by who knows what can cause a lot of stress. i think only "ghost hunters" would go out and do such a thing

I can definately understand not wanting to ruin your vacation if it would be something you weren't interested in.
