What is brand of CPU in your PC - Intel or AMD ?
Have you had any bad expereince with AMD , it heats up so quick and shutsdown PC - many people say this.
Intel is more expensive then AMD but is reliable, faster.
Why do you like your chosen CPU?

I am using AMD in my laptop but seriously its a very bad experience. And i would never recommend anyone to buy AMD. Sometimes it does not get heated usually in room where the temperature is low. It shuts down alot and that corrupts my operating system. I think Intel would be a lot better. the reason a bought amd was that i got it cheap. but now i am regretting my choice.

Hi Mylotters,
I am running 2 different machines with AMD processors in them. My first for the other half and her son is an AMD x2 6000 with 4gb of Matched corsair ram with Vista Ultimate 64 bit on. I never have any issues with that machine other than having to keep re-doing windows (you know what 8 year olds are like) but luckily I have a ghost image of a clean install so it only takes a matter of mins to restore.
My other pc which I do alot of gaming on is the AMD X4 Phenom 9950. I have overclocked that cpu by 120% on the stock cooler that comes with it and have had no overheating issues. This coupled with my SLI GPUs the case should get hot but it doesnt.
This is such an old but interesting debate. There is no definitive answer. There was a challange thrown down by AMD to Intel for benchmarking the 2 CPUs against each other and Intel did not turn up for the server tests. The AMD 64 chips are the only true 64 bit processor running a faster internal FSB. If I recall the Intel runs at a max of 1333 Mhz where the fastest AMD is over 2000Mhz.

I have Intel on my laptop and AMD on my desktop. I am satisfied with both of them and haven't had any problems with either. I have never had my desktop heat up and shut down.

Depending on your price range if your going for the most bang for your buck AMD is best. Especially for budget/economic computers. If you have the money I would go for intel. I just built my computer a few months ago with a intel core 2 quad processor and I love it. I previously had a AMD x2 processor when they first came out. I asked the same question but generally if you have the money get intel its better.
