What is your reason for living?

Most people not geniuses or special in any way. Most people will not become world class nuclear physicists, pulitzer prize winning novelists, famous artists or rock stars. And when they die, they'll be forgotten. A lot of people will end up in unhappy marriages with ungrateful kids. They'll study something that they have no interest in, just to get a job that they hate to pay the bills. So they work to put food on the table, eat the food to live, and live another day to work and to reflect upon how much their life sucks. Why are you still alive? Is there something that you live for, want strive for, or are you merely living because you are a creature of habit?

I am here to be a loving mother to my three children. I am here to be an inspiring teacher to young children in the classroom. I am here to be kind to the animals. I eat a vegan diet. I am here to travel to see different countries and help people to be tolerant to other cultures. I am here to write stories and informative things.

Sounds like an abundant life! I've always wanted to do some travelling...I plan on going around Asia and maybe teaching some English in Korea once I'm done with school.

I really don't know to tell you the truth. All my goals for my life have pretty much been put on hold indefinitely. I never get to see my family, because I moved away from home when I got married. Even though I live in the same house with my wife, I never get to see her much, because we work different shifts. I have a job, but I am looking for either a better job or a second job, because the one I have now is not paying all the bills. I am getting deeper and deeper in debt with no relief in sight. I have a physical handicap that limits the types of work I can do, and I have pretty much constant pain in my back and ankle. I can barely walk most of the time these days. I could go on and on, but I wont...I think you get the picture. So...to answer your question, I really don't know. I have three Chihuahuas that are my little hearts. They keep me going. I don't know if they are my reason for living, but they are definitely high on the list. They are about the only thing I have to look forward to every day, and when I come home at night, I know they will be at the door waiting to greet me with their tails wagging... I know exactly what you mean about being a creature of habit. In reality, we are all slaves in one aspect or another. Slavery doesn't go away, it just changes forms. Most of us are slaves to creditors. Mortgage, car, and credit card companies are who we are really working for. Some people get to chase their dreams. The rest of us are stuck playing the usually screwed up hand that life deals us...I guess the real question here is "What are ANY of us living for?" Who really benefits from our daily lives?

This is a great discussion! Although some people may bury their heads in the sand to hear it *smiles*. I am alive to experience love! It is a life quest and I finally found. It took many mistakes to find real love and it isn't in man. For most love is found in several things; a job, money, a person, a place. For me it is within my faith, myself, and my child. So my reason for living is to show people that love is good and it comes in many forms and if I can find it so can others.

You're absolutely right, love isn't just necessarily found in a person! I really like your take on love because imo too many people are looking for it in the wrong places. Love is everywhere, even if you don't necessarily find prince charming.

That's kind of a deep question, but I know the answer. My reason for living is to make the world better than it was when I came into it. I know that sounds pretty basic, but it's true. At least for me.

Love for God and its creatures, kindness, humanity, joy, faith and these things are really considered to be the only answer! But if everyone of the same opinion, otherwise it wont work. I wanted them all, but now I do only wish to sleep forever

I think every creature has a built in program to want to live. Even a small ant wants to live. Man / woman also wants to live unless there are chemical inbalances, is experiencing too much pain or are overwhelmed with problems. I personally am happy to be alive. Yes, I do wish that things were better in this world but do believe that one day they will be.
