Living on a Farm

I have never lived on a farm. Came very close to it but it was more of a cattle ranch than an actual farm. I'm wondering what it would be like to own farmland and raise animals that would provide food for my family? Is it hard earned work to raise animals such as cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep? I know that I can sell chicken eggs, any vegetables I grow, wool and possibly the meat from the animals I would be raising but is all that farming worth it? Just how much does it consume from the life I live today? Would I have time to spend with my family or would I be so busy that my day is gone without having time to do anything else but farm?

I have never lived on a farm, but I would think it would be pretty rewarding, because you could essentially take care of most of your basic needs because you are raising and growing everything yourself. I imagine that they still have time to do other things. Of course the animals have to be fed, and the crops watered, and harvested, but I bet they can keep their own schedules.

I think the best things would be the rewards also. It takes care of the simple needs like food on the table for the family. I'm guessing that the chores on the farm would out weigh the family time but if the chores are shared so is the time spent with family.
