Hi figment?!? Thats some name. You need to enter into discussions posted in areas that are of interest to you. For example, it you like cats, include cats in your interests and then at the top of your page, you will see a cat icon with an indication of when the last post was made in that category. You will find that some are interesting, some are funny and some want help or advice!! Go and add all the interests you have first, then start looking through the various categories to find a discussion you want to become involved in. Dont place too much on the blogging area, its not much used and can be just too much. Stick with the discussions. I know you have requested me as a friend and I have accepted. I will pm you and maybe I can help you further. This site is fun, once you get your head around navigation.

From a member who has been very active here for over 2 yrs. now, I hope you will learn to enjoy this site, and want to continue to be active in here as well. I have learned a lot of things in my time being here, and hope you will learn and use some of these things here as well. Personally, Yes, you can earn some extra $$ here, and make a lot of Friends here, but remember if you want a Friend, you need to be one here as well. If you are interested in getting known around here, you need to be willing to post back to others discussions that they have started here as well. The more discussions you choose to respond back too, the more people will get to know you and want to be your friend here as well. When responding back to discussions, keep your responses of quality. That means try and stick to the topic at hand, and post back with at least 4 lines in length back to them as well. Try and be different from others while also sticking to the topic, and you will get rewarded and known for it as well. Wishing you the Best.

Hi figment, welcome to mylot! Through my own experience there's 3 ways I have requested friendship on here. 1) If the person responded to a discussion of mine, 2) if I responded to theirs, and 3) if they have the same interests as me. I haven't done #3 in a while. I've noticed some people on here are weary of accepting someone's friendship if they haven't seen the person requesting their friendship around mylot before. But if you stick with #1 and #2 you'll have plenty of friends on here before you know it. One way to find things that match your interests is by adding as many interests as you have in your list of interests. The more you have, the better! And don't forget to post, post, post. The more you post, the more exposure you'll get and you should be able to make a name for yourself here in no time. I hope this helped! Good luck!

Looks to me as if you are doing just fine! Use some patience, and realize that all of us here had the same problems and we worked them through. You will soon get the hang of it, and here is something else. I've been on myLot over 2 years and am still learning. Hi, dont worry... you will get used to it really soon. First thing I recommend you is looking around and read anything that you can, so that make you feel what kind of interest you like. When I first start, I didn't go to the interest, I went to check out all the title that users have for today and then I keep on responding. Finally, I found myself to like things. So, try it if you can find yourself in some other way that you really like them before you know it.

There is a friends tab bar towards the top. It might be that your friends from other websites do not use the same user/screen name as you would know them on other websites.

The friends I have here, half of them requested me (based on something I wrote on the site here), the other half I requested. To request a friend, you go to their profile and locate the send friend request button. You can add interests from the "interests" tab. I think I started out with three interests. The rest have came from just responding to discussions; if the discussion is under an interest that you don't have checked already, the system will ask if you want to add it to your interests. So say you responded to a discussion in the "writing" interest channel, it will ask if writing is one of your interests. Oh, and if you use the search engine function here, make sure that you hit the discussion section of it; otherwise, it won't actually look at the discussions here on MyLot.
