Please take note that I'm a newbie and just joined a few days back.
When I first visited the Make Extra Money section that was the first question that came into my mind and I said to myself, yes I think so because I can see so many discussion with those in it.
With that in mind I made one discussion offering my site and posted my referral link in it and hope to get a bunch of referrals. I got around 10 response in just a few hours and I say oh! my advertisement is effective and it's working.
The next day I tried to visit the discussion and poof! it's not there.
I wondered what went wrong, so I went to visit the Guidelines section and there it is the answer is NO
[Dont] Post any links promoting other affiliate programs or that do not pertain to the discussion. Posting the same link over and over or posting links that have no relevance to the discussion is not allowed.
Now, my question is if you see a discussion with referral/affiliate link in them what do you do?
Do you report them immediately? or Do you inform and educate them that what they are doing is against our guidelines?
PS.
The purpose of this discussion is to increase awareness (especially to newbies like me) about posting of referral/affiliate links in discussions.

Posting links in discussion is not allowed at all. You can post as many discussions as you want but no referral links. You can post url of a site in support to your question but not links. If you do post links that discussion would be deleted and you would loose what ever you earned from that discussion. Not only you but all ppl who have answered it would loose money what ever they earned by answering these questions. You can send your links via Pvt msgs but dont spam anyone.

Thank you for the information about loosing earnings along with those discussions that gets deleted. It surely is a waste of time responding to discussions that gets deleted.
How about you, did you ever reported someone's discussion having referral link in it?

Yes you are right that they are not allowed. However, people still do post these things and get there discussions deleted. Newbies do it mostly, but I won't say that the older one's don't do it as well. I do not report them immeadiately, or atleast I refrain from doing so. There are times such as if I've told them and they still do it, I will report, or if I am just an annoyed mood. I know the latter does not justify the means.

Yeah. As I see on some of the discussions here, it's mostly newbies that are doing it.
For those times that you have told some of them that they are not allowed to do it, did you get any bad reactions from them? or they just ignored you?

I don't report them. Mylot admin are very alert and in no time at all, they'll delete them. I don't reply to those types of discussions as I would only be subtracted points later. You have a well written discussion. you could be a free lance writer..lol..happy mylotting.

Actually, Jenaisle, MyLot admin consists of quite a small number of people. They rely very much on the users to see that standards are upheld. If you spot something that is definitely against the rules, you should report it - see points 2 and 3 in the list of DO's.

Posting on a discussion is not allowed because it's consider as spam. You can still do those referral invites but do it in your profile. Post your banner there with your referral link. You can also exchange referral links through private messaging. Make sure you won't gonna annoy members though.

yeah but tons of people do it anyway. I guess most people dont report it or whatever... I dont see whats the big deal about not posting links. I mean the editor automatically makes a link not like you need to copy and paste in your url bar. I think its part on mylots fault for this flaw. What do you guys think?

Posting referral links is not allowed. It is considered to be spam. It will be considered as a great disturbance to the members and violating the mylog policy. Posting referral links is not part of the discussion, so it is not allowed.
