I was born and raised in Sheffield England and lived my early years in World War 11. I met and married an American serviceman and in 1960 became an immigrant to the USA. I went through everything that was asked of me to obtain my visa and I along with my first born sailed into New York and as we sailed past the Statue of Liberty it brought tears to my eyes. When the appropraite time came I once again went through all the procedures asked of me and I became a citizen of the United States of America. I was sworn in as a citizen in Springfield, Illinois. I am proud to be an American. If immigrants want to live in our country then they need to adapt to our way of life. It is a way of life that was gained by those who fought hard for independence. It is a way of life that has been maintained by soldiers and other who have fought, with many losing thier lives for our independence to be maintained. Now a word for those of you who want to come and live in our country for whatever reason 1. Learn our language. 2. Learn our culture. If you don't want to do that then I suggest you leave OUR homeland and go back where you came from or better yet, don't cross our borders in the first place. God is part of the American culture. "So help me God" has been around for a long time as has been "In God we trust." We are not going to change this so if it offends you go someplace else to live. Our language is ENGLISH. It's not Spanish, Chinese, French, Arabic or any other language. Either learn our language or leave our country, better yet learn it before you come here. We don't want our kids being FORCED to learn your language. The forefathers of this country worked hard to give us the right to choose and we intend to maintain that right. We are happy with our culture, our language and our way of life and we are happy to share it with you if need be. Don't gripe about our Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America. If you don't want to participate then I have a little advice for you - DON'T come here or just leave and go back where you came from. One final word - No one forced you to come to our country. If you don't want to conform to OUR way of life then you are free to leave and go elsewhere. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I applaud the ones that are legal and are doing what is right to fit in with our country and I believe that Us2Owls feels the same way. The problem I have are the ones that come to this country and automatically start drawing money from welfare or social security and refuse to try to fit in. I don't feel my children should have to learn their language. They are in my country, they should have to learn mine. If they want to come to this country and do what is needed to become a citizen, then by all means, do so. But don't expect to come over here and change our country to suit them. They should have to change for us not us for them. They would expect that if we were in their country so why should it be any different here? And I may sound greedy, but I believe we should be more concerned and take better care of our own citizens before we worry about taking care of illegals.
