Call center has been a boom in our contry. I'm not working in a call center, but I used to see it in the television, and read it in the newspaper. But i still don't know what's in this business? I mean what do you do in such work and some works even late at night, or early in the morning? Why some company's do accept undergrads of any course, or even only graduated a highschool degree?

hi there, patzi - what country are you from if i may ask?
call centers assist big companies in their telecommunication requirements. they provide qualified and highly trained manpower to attend to and manage inbound and/or outbound calls for their client companies. these call centers charge their clients with fees, where the latter find it cheaper rather than maintaining regular employees :) voice and wit are the primary attributes of an employee needed to be a call center agent. but of course educational attainment counts when an employee is aspiring for promotion.

call center agents earn more than a regular office clerk. besides, if you have the guts to apply as a call center agent and pass all the interviews and necessary trainings, you are in. unlike when you apply as an office clerk, you get to earn the minimum wage only for a start. the only setback is that they cannot refuse graveyard shifts.
call center agents, due to the nature of their jobs, are trained to be persuasive and confident, hence once they decide to leave their jobs, they would, most of the time, pass interviews and would be given preference over those who have no experience or those with poor oral communication skills.

Well I too am not into call center myself but I knwo a little about then. They are the person that usually call their clients or vice versa. They usually are outsource meaning if Citibank needs telemarketers they would just hire these call centers to make the call for them instead of hiring lots of employees to just do this they hire these outsourcing companies and train these people to perform the task they need to do to their clientele. Why is it that they work at nights is because these are call centers that worked for an American company and they need to call during daytime in their place unfortunately it is night time in our place that is why they are required to work at nights and most often they do not enjoy the holidays in our place but I guess they are paid holiday pay for that. Why do companies hire here in the Philippines, well it simply is because our labor is cheaper than the American's would hire there in their country.

hi patzi!
well, big companies in other countries need support, like technical, sales, etc. it is part of their service to their clients. however, to bring down the cost, they outsource their manpower elsewhere and try to leave what could not be outsourced in their country.
the late hours are because of the time zone difference. most people make their calls during the day in the western countries, which is nightime for us here in the east. so that is why.
and yeah, as long as you know how to speak english and can master the dynamics of troubleshooting, or the spiel for the sales, you can make it with a call center.
hope this answers your questions. take care and God bless you!
happy mylotting!

Well, if you ever had problems with your cellphone network provider and you call a helpline, it is the call center that responds and also the 0911 calls generally go to the police call centre. The reason why you dont require any of the educational qualification is that all you need to know is talk in english to your customer who calls for help. Any product that gets a helpline number and when you dial that number it is tracked to a call center and the call center employee provides you with the required assistance.

Well me i am not sure with this but i think it is really popular here in our country because call center really gives a High salary income but the problem with this job is it is really tiring because when you make a job, it must be at night, until in the morning. Huh?! Imagine how tiring is that job? But it is not easy to apply for a job like call center because they must also have a knowledge especially when speaking in english and when yot are in interview you must answer the question correctly. If ever i will have a chance to be graduate and apply for a job. I think i will choose it from the last. What i mean is if ever i do not have a choice? I will choose it last. You know why that's my last option when applying for a job? Because when you are working for an a call center agent you are close from sickness. When you are working at night shift, i think you will also grow old at a night shift i think you will also grow old for the reason of over fatigue. Well call center is really helpful for rising a country like the country Philippines. . . Well this is the end of my response about this forum topic titled " call centers, what's in this business". Thank you and happy mylotting. . . Mabuhay! ! !
