From where I came from parents would usually try to combine their names or the names of their parents to name their children. In my mother side two of my cousins were named after combining their mom and dads name and another two of them got their names from our grandparents. Well there are names that sounds cute when combines but there are names that I have heard of that really sounds awful. LOL. Was your name a combination of someones name or know someone of that sort? What is you name and from whose name was it taken from? Please share.

Hello kenchiprincess! Sad to say my name isn't the combination of my parents name or granny's name. But my younger sister has a combination of my mom's name and my granny's name. Her name is annatherese. Anna stands for anastacia(my grandma's name) and therese stands for theresa (my moms name)

Polly and ester.. let me think of the possible names and tell me if I got it right... Pollyester? Poles? Espol? terpol? polter? terly? esterpol? esterpolly? Lester? Lyester? Which one? I think I have combined every name possible.

My daughters first name is a combination of my name actually. I name is Sharron Kay and I named my daughter Caitlyn. i did this out of respect to my mom. I have always hated my name but my mom always loved it so I was trying to figure out a way to keep the name going. As soon as I said what I was going to name my daughter my mom began to cry. She thought it was so beautiful.

Thanks for sharing. I can feel how happy your mom is to keep the passing or combining the name to the next generation. It will be some sort of a legacy she have started. Parents especially moms are quite emotional and i know shes happy with what you have done. Thanks for sharing and have a great and wonderful day. Happy Mylotting my friend.

My own name is a combination of both my parents. I hate my name!! My moms name is Marilyn and my dads is Darell, so they put it together and I was named Darilyn. I hate it! Everyone always seems to remember me whether I want them to or not. You don't meet to many with that name so if someone is talking about me they don't have to think which one or even have to know a last name, unlike more common names like sara or Deb.

Hi friend, thanks for sharing. Most of the people that I know where their names were combined from their parents or grandparents names usually doesn't like it a lot especially if it sounds not to familiar and nice to listen to. I think with your name it is possible that 1 out of 1000 would have such name. Unlike mine where it is very common and i can hear it anywhere. If you have a common name surely you won't like it too. Thanks for sharing my friend.

My son and his wife had names picked out for a boy or a girl shortly after they knew they were expecting. As soon as the ultrasound told them they were having a girl she was named McKenzie.
They stuck with that until about a week or two before she was born when the family quirk struck and her name was changed.
In my family we have a habit of making up new words by accidently combining words because our brains run ahead of our mouths.
My son and his wife were looking after their nieces Kylie and Brianna. My son was trying to get one of the kids attention but what came out of his mouth was a combination of their names Kayanna. As soon as it came out of his mouth he and his wife looked at each other and said "I like that!" So she was named Kayanna. Knowing her now, I think it really suits her more than McKenzie would have.

Kayanna, sounds a nice name for a baby girl and it is unique for it is not a common name where you would hear it anywhere. Indeed the name is indeed suited for her and only her. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

Hi friend, hahah,,, this combination of names is very common to my students. It is my problem because I am having a hard time writing their names on the record book, it is too long, it occupies a lot of space. yes, combination of parent's name grandparents and all the relatives... my goodness!! sometimes they have 3 names 4 names... that comes out from a combination. I am just wondering why parents are doing that? they are giving a hard time with their kids in school writing the long name and also the teachers? hahahaha...It takes time to write the full name because it's too long. I don't like that idea. My name is not a combination and it has only 3 syllables.

Yes! My two children!!! The bigger has the name of my wife's grandparent and the new one has the name of my grandfather. At first, we dont like the names, but when you use it all the time, you end up liking it and it is a very simple way of making parents happy.
