Hi noniefam, I’m a Chinese from Malaysia and we will celebrate the Chinese New Year every year. It’s the grand festive season in our traditional culture. All the members of the family would try their best to return home before the last day of the Chinese calendar to have the grand and cheerful reunion dinner together with our parents and elders in the new year eve evening.
The majority of the Chinese people in my place would clean the house and decorate it well and decent with electric red and flickering lanterns inside and outside the house. We will purchase many festive cookies, fruits and clothes to welcome our new year festival.
This year we celebrate the Chinese New Year of Ox and many decoration ornaments in bright red color and many are designed with various types of adorable shape of red and golden ox. The kids would be the happiest ones for they could receive lots of red packets with money inside them from their parents and elders. They also enjoy a lot playing with attractive fireworks of different varieties together with their playmates outside the house. Tomorrow is the 15th day as well as the last day in the Chinese lunar calendar to celebrate this grand CNY of Ox, and it is also our Chinese Valentine day. Hope that everyone who is still single could find their loved one during this romantic day.
Happy posting and gong xi fa cai ( to have a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year)
