I was thinking back to the campaign and I think I remember Barack saying that he was not going to have lobbyists in his administration. It only took him 2 days to break this promise. Also to pick a tax cheat to be the treasurery secretary is scary. This man will be incharge of the IRS. What was he thinking. I have stated that I am willing to give him a chance but his picks are making me want to rethink this. He is building a Chicago type politics administration. what do you think?

Hello wkl0442, and thank you for your discussion.
I have been raised to believe that there are a few topics in life that are taboo, only because you will never find any two people to agree, and they start more arguments, then not.
Politics is one of them! But since you started the discussion, and we are all entitled to our own opinion, I will weigh in a little on this one.
First of all, I have yet to experience a politian who totally lived up to their campaign promises. My opinion is that they will say, and do what ever they need to to get what they want. More often then, not, it has nothing to do with the greater good, or the good of the tax payers they serve.
All I know is that we have to pay taxes, or we are breaking the law, and most certainly will be sent to jail because we are the little noboby peons. The fact that our taxes pays to run this country, and pay the politicians salaries is of little importance. As long as you are a politician, or a celebrity, or a rich big wig, you can do, and say anything you want. But, just let us common folks open our mouths, and if they could, it would be off with our heads!
This country needs to wake up, unit, and return to the basic principles upon this country was founded. Voice? Right now we have none! We, the citizens of this country who's responsibility it is to vote, monitor what our politicians are doing, and speak our peace, continue to remain quite, and complacent.
If you disagree with what our politicians are doing, you owe it to yourself, your family, and the future of this country to pick up the phone, pen & paper, fax, or email your concerns.
Our politicians can't make decisions for us it they don't hear what we have to say. Lobbyist, political interest groups, and the rich! They have the full attention of our politicians from the local level on up. And just why do you thing that is? Because the make a point to open their mouths and say what they think.
Live, pay taxes, and die. Isn't that what your grand parents used to say? Well, that's the exact attitude that has brought us to this place in time. Our responsibilities are far greater than this!
Give Obama a chance? Do we have a choice? If so, then I'd like to know what it is? Now you know why politics is TABOO!

Obama is against politicians accepting bribes as gifts from lobbyists. That is different from hiring a lobbyist to do a different job for President Obama, in doing that the person will stop lobbying. Very simple concept. Interesting that you are picking everything a part but accepted every little lie, cheat and bullhockey from the idiot Bush.

I notice that nothing has been mentioned about the Presidential direcetives that everyone in Obama's administration must agree to in writing and adhere to now and in the future with regarding to lobbyists. From Bloomberg.com:
"The president said that when top White House aides leave government, they are barred from lobbying “for as long as I am president, and there will be a ban on gifts by lobbyists to anyone serving in the administration.”
Lobbying Limits
A lobbyist who joins the Obama administration also is forbidden from working on issues they previously were involved with, he said. Any person who leaves the administration will be barred from lobbying the government for two years.
“We need to close the revolving door that lets lobbyists come into government freely and lets them use their time in public service” to promote their own interests when they leave, the president said. Government hiring, he said, will henceforth be based on qualifications, competence and experience, “not political connections.” "

There is a lot of stuff that he promised to do that he has tables in the face of reality, so I will take the good with the bad. If he actually did all the stuff he said to get elected we would really be up a creek.
