Kind of a far fetched question, but can you build a laptop from scratch? Or rather ... "Upgrade"?
Say I found a crappy laptop on ebay for like $20. But really all that was good was the battery, screen, and maybe the HDD and motherboard. But say the processor was like...1.1GHz (SUX!)
Can I buy laptop motherboards and mobile processors?
It's prolly better off just to save up some money and get a brand new one for like $300, but 1) I have no money
2) I kinda want a customized laptop
3) I'd rather buy it in "parts" rather than save up (cuz that never works)
4) Building a laptop would be interesting and I might learn a thing or two
Can anyone tell me if this is possible? Thanks!

It is possible to do. You can find parts for them on geeks.com and a few other sites. I personally use geeks as I have a wholesale account with them. A lot of their stuff is refurbished but, it does come with a warranty.
I have repaired a few laptops and their "insides" aren't that much different from a desktop, just smaller :)
Good luck and have a good one!

Hey Thanks! I checked out the site and its pretty cool.
Do you know of any other site (besides ebay) that sells used laptops for parts?

Hey,
Yea you can basically build a laptop from almost scratch. But you firstly need a good Motherboard and good CPU. Then you just add on the RAM, and HDD, graphics card, etc... Hope this helps!
