I was not surprised when Orton won the Rumble. I was expecting either him, Jericho or Triple H to win. However, the most shocking storyline was Matt Hardy betraying his brother Jeff Hardy by attacking him and helping Edge win the title.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting Matt to betray his brother like that. I mean, we were all thinking Christian would make his return at the Rumble and it didn't happen. Personally, I like Matt as a heel and think he can be a more interesting character now. Remember Matt Hardy V1? I think Matt will be a darker heel now, though. What I don't like is that WWE relies too much on Edge. I mean, he's already a 7-time World Champion. Think about this-Ric Flair won his first title in 1981 and his last title in either the late '90s or 2000. Not sure. Triple H is a 12-time World Champion. His first title reign was in '99 and his last was just last year. For Hulk Hogan's first big run in the WWF, he was champion 4 times from 1984-1991. Bottom line is that the World titles should be a little more stable. I mean, not year long reigns, but longer than one or two months. Well, if Jeff regains the title at Wrestlemania, it'll make for a feel good moment.
Some other thoughts:
Cena retains over JBL. No big surprise here. I think it would be a huge surprise if they went with JBL as Raw's champion.
Melina beats Beth Phoenix for the WWE Women's Championship. Eh, I'm glad Melina won. No strong feelings otherwise.
Jack Swagger beats Matt Hardy and retains the ECW Championship. Well, Swagger is still being called undefeated even though Hardy beat him in a tag match. Hardy losing here had to happen since I guess Matt is the jealous brother. I do like Swagger, though. The question is, who is next for him? Finlay?
Randy Orton wins the Rumble. No big surprise. Insider sites were picking him as a likely candidate. Thing is, if WWE gives Cena vs. Orton at Wrestlemania, that match isn't exactly fresh as they've already fought more times than I care to remember. I would've loved to have seen MVP won. I'm glad that he lasted longer than several other superstars. I'm also glad Kane got to eliminate a few guys. I'm thinking RVD's appearance was a one-time only deal, but I'd love to see him return full-time.

Yeah, the World titles reigns were short back then, but the overall product was better back then. The Rock and Mankind swapped the title back and forth in early '99 and the product was awesome back then. Triple H's first title reign was short, but the product was still can't miss. When the Rock regained the title at King of the Ring 2000, he held the title for four months. Same with Kurt Angle after that. Then in 2001, Stone Cold held the title for almost six months. In 2002, Triple H, Hulk Hogan and the Rock all held the undisputed title for a month. The Undertaker had that same title for two months. Again, the product was better. Don't get me wrong, I think Smackdown is the best show right now, but the WWE tile has changed hands at the last three PPVs. As for the tag team titles, they're both pretty much worthless and I agree they shouldn't have two sets of them.

I remember from the year 1999 to 2002 the title reigns were short and interesting. WWE had many superstars like Stone Cold, Rock, Big Show, Mankind, Undertaker, Triple H, Vader, Jericho who were all champions at one time or other except Vader. WWE then split the titles in September 2002 and that is where I feel WWE made a mistake. Atleast they split the tag titles. And allowed the IC and US champions to appear on both shows.

I wasn't surprised either, they had been building up Orton quite a bit prior to the Rumble. I wanted Chris Jericho to win because he is one of my favourites. When Matt Hardy smacked Jeff with the chair I was shocked and disappointed... I wanted Christian to return and help Edge.

John Cena is so pathetic.Only kids like him. Hes booed even when he is a "face". He was better as a rapping "Heel". Ya Jericho is a main event material. He deserves a long long title reign. People who cant wrestle always seem to be liked by script writers. Guys like Batista, Cena and Khali.

I really wish they would put the belt back around Chris Jerichos waist and put him in the main event spot where he belongs. Ever since John Cena made his come back he doesn't get as much air time as he used to :( brilliant wrestler, brilliant on the mic, I want more Jericho! lol

I cannot remember all of the seven times he has won the championship. Did all of them happen because he got some kind of help from someone(s) else?
1. He speared a beating up John Cena after he won an Elimination match
2. He speared Undertaker after he defeated Batista and got attacked by Mark Henry
3. He defeated Undertaker in a latter match with help from four other people
4-6. ???
7. Got help from Matt Hardy
The first two happened when he cashed in his two money in the bank contracts.

If my memory serves me correctly:
1)Cashed in MITB and pinned John Cena after Cena won an Elimination Chamber match.
2)Pinned RVD in a triple threat match also featuring John Cena.
3)Cashed in MITB after the Undertaker wrestled Batista in a steel cage and had been attacked by Mark Henry.
4)Won in a triple threat match at Armageddon 2007 featuring Batista and Undertaker.
5)Beat Undertaker in a TLC match.
6)Beat Triple H and Vladimir Kozlov in a triple threat match at last year's Survivor Series.
7)Beat Jeff Hardy at this year's Royal Rumble.

In that triple threat match at Armageddon 2007 Edge used Hawkins and Ryder's help to win the title. In the TLC match it was Hawkins, Ryder, Chavo and Bam Neely who interfered if i remember correctly. Chris Jericho on the other hand wins more "fairly" as a "heel". I just loved the old funny heel Jericho before 2004.

All seven times he captured the title with either outside interference or exploiting an opponent after his match like when he cashed his MITB contract. He has always won as a heel so its not surprising. Heels never win without any outside help.

Randy Orton, not surprising! After "kicking" Vince in the head, that pretty much said it all there! (The dream job, kicking the boss's butt and go back to work) Didn't expect the Matt and Jeff thing though, and helping Edge? That was a surprise!

I just hate it when Edge is the champion lol. Jeff's reign was too short anyway. At No Way Out its going to be an Elimination Chamber so maybe Jeff will get his title back.

i was expecting that to happen.when u have a 3 man team like that u got to win and ofcourse if they didnt win this rumble, the orton team cannot proclaim them as the next DX.i kinda expected that from matt hardy as he lost his title and when she made it a no disqualification,it was too clear.then cena,it was plain enough that cena will win that match

Ya Cena was very much expected to win. But I wonder what will WWE do with the HBK-JBL angle.

Randy Orton winning the Royal Rumble shouldn't be a shock to anyone. Almost everyone predicted him to and it only builds to the McMahon - Orton rivalry. It will be interesting to see in the next few weeks what will happen with this storyline. I agree with you that Matt betraying Jeff was shocking and no one saw that coming.

I hadn't seen anything about this Royal Rumble. I hate to hear that The Hardy's are not together as they are a fabulous tag team and I really like both of them. Matt is my favorite and I hate to see him become a bad guy esp. helping Edge of all people.

Ya i too hate the Hardys not being together and I feel Jeff's title reign was too short. Atleast till No Way Out he should have been given a title reign. However now we can say that a "babyface" will face Edge for the title next. And that would be inside an Elimination Chamber like last year if I am not wrong.

This was pretty expected I guessed that orton would win the rumble if shawn michaels wasnt in it. But im pretty upset that he won the rumble since I really dont want to see him face cena again which has been done so many times last year I just dont want this being the main event at wrestlemania. I wish that shawn michaels won and faced jbl for the title. But its good to see a heel finally win the rumble this year.

Yeah, just a few moments ago, I fully finish watching Royal Rumble. Wow, what an amazing even this year's Royal Rumble have turned out to be. Its fabulous. And yes, Randy Orton winning the Royal Rumble was some what surprising to me. This time not a fan favorite winning. I really enjoyed watching Rumble this year. Undertaker was very entertaining.
I also enjoyed watching Vladmir Kozlov eliminating Great Khali . That was an amazing scene to watch. Sad, that he wasn't there in the ring for a long time.
And to be honest, Jeff Hardy VS Edge match wasn't very interesting and Matt Hardy hitting Jeff by chair, is really an old school. These kind of storyline are very old and I dint enjoy much watching that match.
JBL VS John Cena match seemed to be a bit ok to watch.
Overall, I enjoyed watching Rumble this year and the eliminating match is what I liked the most.
