I have used some free edition of anti-virus but I think they don't really work and worst to say, some had left damages in my computer. Let's face it everybody loves free stuff right? But beware, some may just bring you more virus and might make the condition worse. But somehow, some free anti-virus are really safe but these are really limited that it seems like they just give it for free to make you ask for more and that requires an amount to get it.
So for me, free isn't really good at all. Well, who would really offer things for free anyway? Every little thing in this world has a price to pay. Free offers are in every corner of the internet but in the end of every offer they will still ask you to pay, right? I guess in availing anti-virus, we might rather use their free-trial versions to see what really works for our computers before we make a purchase. This is just my opinion but who knows, some of you might know a 100% free anti-virus that really works.

I already used that. Yeah a good choice but it doesn't work for some viruses.

Well, it's been said before but for me, AVG free rocks. I've been using it for several years.. hardly a problem to speak of. Wonderful program considering its free. I think that in combination with a firewall, anti-spyware programs and smart browsing, AVG will work just fine to keep your PC safe.

Thats not true many antivirus tools are free and its work good... the only thhing is after scanning or user you just uninstall the software or antivirus tools dont forget to delete software directory which created in program files while installation.

Hi City_addict,
I think there are few free anti-virus software which are free. I think AVG is one of them. And there is a community which offers a free software as Open Source Software.

well city_addict your right but its all a marketing scheme. do you really anything in this world comes for free, nothing comes for free my friends, and i mean nothing. these so called companies who release these softwares, always have a paid version on the side and on a lot of them, they put limiters. Even though the antivirus has the capability to fix your computer, it would never do it and would tell you to buy the pro version to get it fixed. i use free softwares too but i am a computer techinician and i know how it all works so i found tweaks for it. you really dont need to get an antivirus once your computer gets infected, you can always prevent stuuff from happening .... well better late than never
