Have you ever received a present that you really hated?

I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was 7 years old. It was Christmas at my aunt's place in Kansas. We were to celebrate Christmas with them and obviously my aunt had presents for all of us, the nephews and nieces that she's never met. So being the darling aunt that she is, she asked my cousin Colin to make sure what kinda presents she ought to buy. Colin, the genius that he is, said I was 4 years old and any toy would do. But any toy did NOT do. I opened my present and I got a toy telephone that did nothing. Only buttons to push. Didn't even make a sound. Just plastic. Yellow, blue, and white. Being the diva that I was, I pushed the toy away, didn't wanna play with it at all and made a grumpy face. My siblings got way cooler toys which made me even grumpier. In the end, my dearest cousin Kim cheered me up by giving me her Christmas present; a set of beauty products. I felt better after that. LOL!! Remembering back, I think I would have slapped myself silly. I seriously needed a b*tch slap from my Mom. But I did get a lecture from her after that. Away from my aunt and family. Hehe.
But nowadays, I'm not such a brat anymore. I love all the presents I receive!:D

Hey mean_queen! I haven't seen you around on here like forever! How have you been?
Yes, I have received a present before that I hated. I'm pretty sure it was my 10th birthday and my grandmother (maternal side) gave me a dress that I thought was rather ugly. Sorry grandma! Anyway, it was green in color and it reminded me of a long apron as it needed a shirt to be worn with it.
I remember having to get my picture taken with each present I received that day. Even though I smiled on the outside while I was holding this dress up, I wasn't smiling inside. I never wanted to wear it, though I think I did once to make my grandma happy. I loved her and didn't want to hurt her feelings, after all.

Hi sacmom! Yeah, it's been ages since I last logged on. I've been busy with work and I blog most of the time. Just thought of dropping by and see what it's like after I left. :D
LOL! So whatever happened to that dress? Was that the only time you wore it? Grandmas are sweet and most of the time we would do anything to make them happy, even if it means being unhappy ourselves. Hehe. That was sweet of you.

It's good to see an old timer, like yourself, back on here.
I don't even know! Maybe my mom gave it away or threw it away. It was so long ago. I'm pretty sure it was only the one time that I wore it.
My maternal grandmother was a very sweet grandma. My paternal grandmother on the other hand was not. But that's for another discussion.
