Okay, first let me tell you the earnings I received from these sites:
Comparedby:
$20.25
Ciao:
$5
$7
As you can see I received more in Comparedby. But I joined a bit before when the rule started being strict and you have to know be in categories on how good you are in your review writing and there's a limit to how much reviews you can write a month, depending on your status.
And you receive no more money for rating people's reviews.
In ciao, it was when you earned $1 a review.
Now you only earn for the ratings people give you.
But both sites are still really good for review writing.
So check out Ciao and Comparedby!

The first site that I started writing for was Associated Content. I earned a few hundred dollars pretty fast, and had a great time doiing it. Right now I am working full time as a freelance writer. I use AC, Helium, and earn a little here on mylot as well.

may I ask what kind of articles you wrote? Also do you get paid upfront? Thats not an option for me as i live in the UK.

I write every day but I don't submit every day. I now have more than 150 articles at Helium, earning daily revenue from page views. I have writing stars and rating stars, so I get upfront payments there too. I also get paid for assignments submitted in the Helium Marketplace.
I earn money from all my writing activities. I don't just rely on one site. Making money writing does require time to be spent rating, networking and promoting.
I link my articles in my blogs posts, and at my profile pages. I network in forums and at social sites, but self promotion is not welcome at most bookmark sites.
My articles get found in search engine results, from using keywords and search phrases in the text, the titles and the tags.

I write on AC, Helium and HubPages, but don't earn much. At the moment, I'm trying to decide where to publish stuff - AC and Hub get more hits, but Helium's Marketplace and other bonuses add up to more. If I was prolific, either one would give some residual income, but I don't produce hundreds of articles! I guess it's best to spread stuff around as much as possible!
Oh, and anything nonexclusive goes onto constant-content, in case it can make a bit of extra cash.

you're right, i suppose it is best to spread stuff about, its just knowing where to put what that gives me a headache.Because a certain article will do better in one place than the other.
