To those who are employed, are you happy with your work now? I am just wondering, on why you are working with your current employer now, is it because the company is doing something that is according to what you want to do in life? Or is it because it offers a wonderful package which you can not resist? Or is it because it is the only job that has taken you in during the time when you needed money most? In my case, I am not in the happy mode with my work, but on the practical side of it, I am quite lucky to have this kind of work though since some of my friends are bumming around. I wish, someday I can be self-employed or someday I will have something that will make me really happy -- in short I am fulfilling my own personal legend. Oh, Lord help me...

I thoughts I was the only one not happy with my work. I am really working to help a bit my family with the bills (I live with my parents) and also because for my mother is oh so important to have a job. But I can say I don´t really like it. I wasn´t made to be a secretary, it has nothing to do with me. Oh well, I also wanted to be a self employe or do something to feel really satisfied someday.

I have to agree with you. Sometimes, I feel like being an assistant means having to do what the manager is expected to do but you do not have really much say on something. Sometimes, your creativity is curtailed. Gosh. I am ranting.

I'm very happy with the work I do, but I'm not happy with the fact that I don't have much time off or any vacations. I work from home as a freelance writer and some of my jobs require daily tasks. It's hard, but I manage for the most part. There are times when I can double up on one day so I can take the next day off. That tires me out so much, though, that I don't want to do anything but sit on the couch watching movies on my day off. LOL The work is very rewarding, though, so I wouldn't trade this career for another.

You are indeed very lucky to get what you have right now, minus the vacation. Thank you for sharing.

There are many days that I find myself not Happy with the place where I work, and sometimes would really Love to move on, but in reality in today's economy being at my job now for over 2 1/2 yrs. I know I am employed, and pretty safe, where as if I would move somewhere else, would I still be employed if layoffs had to hit? In today's economy everyday that I wake up and have a job to go too, I thank God. Maybe in time I can move on to something else when the economy decides to pick back up as well.

Now getting a job according to our choice is not so easy.We can see lot of people now loosing their jobs due to current economic crisis. We have to satisfy with, what ever job we are doing.I am working as a network engineer in a software firm and i enjoy this job a lot. There is also a small fear in my mind about loosing the job. But,i dont like to think about it.Now i am getting reasonable salary and enjoying my profession a lot.If i get any free time in between my job,i like to spend it on mylot and other money making sites. Now a days it is not so easy to get a job according to our taste or choice.

I am not. I feel incredibly unappreciated and kind of like the black sheep. I don't feel as if my boss respects me even though she expects me to respect her. For one thing, I was told that I was not given a key to the building because she doesn't like keys. Her own kids don't have a key to their house. Fine, whatever, I can live with that. Then the other girl who I worked with resigned and I was told after she turned in her key I would get it. Great! Another lady came in to replace her (because instead of a 2-weeks notice she put in 3 months LOL) and the new lady got a key right away. That was not okay but I let it go. Now the other girl is gone and I still don't have a key. But I am not bringing it up because I don't want to hear the answer. What if she tells me she doesn't trust me enough? It will be all I can do to not tell her to jump in a lake and walk out the door. And, if all goes well, I'll be quitting in another six months to leave for graduate school. It would be silly to have to get another job at this point in the game.

I was self employed for several years. The amount of stress from all the apaer work and not having a set income comming in scared the life outof me. I was so relived in the end to get into a regular job (paid by a boss lol). I have now found i can get by happily working part time, i work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off so i only work 2 weeks every omnth. I am so much ahppier now than when i was working 5am - 8pm. Dont get me wrong i dont have the money i used to, but i dont need it and am so much happier now.

I had worked in a real estate co.for 4 years before turning to my present job.My former employer was very humble and a decent man and the working enviornment was also very good. After marriage i moved to another city so i had to change my job.My present job is also good and giving me decent package but my colleagues here are not honest. They are cheating on co.;s funds. They are exaggerating the payment vouches, putting false vouchers etc.So i really do not like them. I like my work here but not the environment and that is why i miss my old job and wish i could join that again.

Not really, there’s a lot of frustration on all fronts. First of all, though I am integral to a lot many things in the office, I don’t get to do anything independently. Secondly, (and because of the first) I don’t ever get any mention when the credits roll out…its always the guys who are responsible for the job, who get the credit. All my contributions midway never get mentioned. Thirdly, I get a lot less pay that others, though I do a lot more work than them and for them. Nothing doing really, I was never the pushing type! But yes, on the practical side, it has some good areas too….that’s why I plan to stick on.

I also wish I could be self employed one day as well but for now I"m working in a nursing home fulltime. My Supervisor offered the full time to me and made another co-worker upset as she was trying to get fulltime for the last two years or so. It's caused friction between this certain co-worker and I. I know I shouldn't let this bother me because my promise to be reliable by being to work on time and showing up without calling in sick even when I do feel a bit under the weather, has showed to my employer that I take my job quite seriously and of course not to mention the good work I do when I"m there too. That other co-worker had 124 lates in one year and wonders why she can't get a full time position just boggles me. There is so much drama at work right now and I could go on and on but I have senority there now and it's pretty good so all this time working has paid off in more ways than one. I wished I could also be closer to work too. All in all, I feel that if there wasn't so much drama at work, then I would and could enjoy it a lot more! Have a great night

i guess my hubby was blessed with a good job, though at times he feels unhappy not because he doesn't like his work but because of the stress he's having with his work. I just remind him that all he has to do is, take a day off coz too much stress will strain his health, and that's something that he should prevent, to be sick. and it's better that he gets stressed sometimes coz of work, than being stressed coz he has no job. maybe, that's just a human nature, not to be satisfied with what we have. but we should not forget that it's a great blessing to still have jobs. Like what you've said, a lot of people nowadays don't have jobs. And yeah, you're lucky, i agree with you... :)

To tell the truth, I really do not feel satisfied with my present work. This is my second job after my graduation. I find that to seek happiness form my work is such a hard job. Somebody have defind what is the most satisfied work. Which is when you get up you feel so happy to go to office and face the difficulities form the work and seldom feel tired from that. On the first second I was suspect this idea. But I think I am on the way for my satisfied job. Hope it will not be so far.

Not really! This job is my second job and i gotta say its just suffering...i was so determined to quit my first job as a travel agent, because i wanted to learn more especially English.well,my first job was really relaxing and it made me scared, you might feel confused why should i have such a feeling coz everyone seems like to choose one job could not be so hard and have nice money. but im not regret about it,it's useless. Actually im wondering my current job offering me what on earth? Pay is suck and boss isn't nice either,i am still stuck at there.Self-employed is cool and i was thinking about running a grocery store with my friends haha, but i guess it's not the right time for now but we are still working on it!
