It's amazing how far a dog will go in forcing one to play ball. I was busy typing and ignoring the ball that kept getting thrown at me. So he went to the next level. I heard a nasty sound from behind me. Turned around to see some chairs about to topple on top of me!! I had stacked 2 chairs on top of each other. He'd put his ball in between those chairs, then had to get it out. His big head between those chairs didn't work real well! I spoke to him about it, after rescuing his ball. Then went back to typing.
The next thing I knew, the cubbyhole in my desk had all the stuff pulled out! He'd tossed his ball in there, and I hadn't been paying attention, so he got it out himself. I gave up and started tossing the ball.
Who else has been bullied into playing ball?

Yea, dogs definately have interesting ways of making you understand it's time for some attention. You brought to mind a good memory of my dog that passed a couple years ago. He had been getting up in years and used to love play. So I grabbed his little squeak toy and he got excited and ran up to me wagging his tail and jumping a bit(he was like 15 so he could do too much). Well, I guess he used up all his energy, cause I trhew his toy and he watched it and went after and then came back without it and layed down. He just looked at me like, "Eh, that was good for me, thanks...." Too funny.

They do have our number, don't they? Throwing things for this one can be an adventure all by itself!! He's very agile, and I'm not! So trying to throw anything, with him attacking trying to take it out of my hand, is very exciting. I usually don't get it thrown very far, cause he blocks. Then he gives me this disgusted look and throws it at me again. Do most dogs throw balls? Both of these brats do. Then they race and catch it before I can get to it. It's pretty disgusting, trying to get something before them. I feel so used....

I thought mine were just weird. Nice to know I'm not alone in being teased.

Too funny. And I don't know about most, but my dog did when he was younger. Shoot there were times when he would just entertain himself by flinging the ball and going to get it. I don''t know for sure, but a part of me thinks he was trying to make me jealous or some thing, like "Ha see, I don'tneed you to have a good time...don't you wish I'd ask you to play with me?" He was a goofy dog

that's so funny!
my mini schnauzer lets us know when he wants to play. and at first we are amazed he brought us the ball without us asking for it. so everytime now he does that we just obliged and play around 4 or 5 times. when we are tired of it, we stop and i think he is pretty satisfied for the quick run.
the wonderful thing about him is that he'll return the ball to the person who threw it, not the person nearest him. maybe you could take time a few mins. a day to play ball with him and then start to work again.
cheers!

oi! what a stubborn baby you have! lol! my other dog who's a shih tzu has a different game of fetch. i throw him the ball, he chases and stops at arms length. i asked for the ball but he protects it. i go nearer and he goes farther and protects the ball.
some game! dogs are crazy sometimes!

I take more than a few minutes to play with the little stinkpot! Like today. He was having a ball bringing me the ball. Except it was far more entertaining to bat it under something! I have been under my desk, and in out of the way corners chasing his ball down... He's been a little brat all day!
While he's outside, he won't stop barking. He gets inside, I gotta take his squeak toys away. My daughter is sleeping, she works nights, so I gotta keep it quiet. He's just trying to be difficult today!!
the hardest part is playing the game keep-away. I'm not as agile as he is!! And he works that part real well. Keep-away is a real fun game, for him!

my roomate had a dog last time a sausage dog, he would wind and wind when he needed my attention or try to hop on my tights wanted to sit next to me. he loved to be cuddled. He played balled too. whenever he wanted to he would grab the ball in his mouth and run to us and give us the ball. expecting we would toss it he would get it back.. hehe

You have one determined dog haven't you,how sweet he is trying to get your attention just like a child, how nice it is to have someone want to play with you.I bet you had as much fun as he did running around and getting away from the computer screen for a while.

At the time, not really. But he made me laugh so hard I had to chase him around. He loves that too. Playing keep away is as much fun as fetch. A lot harder on this old bod though!! I refuse to play keep away outside. There's just no way!
