According to the latest surveys, soccer remains one of the most popular sports in my country. Horse racing also has a following and places second. Another sport which is gaining popularity lately is rugby, mainly because our national team is doing quite well in this sport. Which sport is the most popular in your country? I think that in the U.S. football is the most popular, followed by baseball. Sports really bore me, though, so I don't watch them. We have sports bars with huge televisions that people gather in to drink and watch the football games. People wear their favorite team's colors and have their team's name on their hats and even their license plates. People really get crazy over football!

I am from China. I think it's either ping pong or badminton is the most popular sports in my country. As the equipment are not very expensive, and it's easy to find a place to play it. This is why they are popular. I love China

Cricket is by far the most popular sport in my country and you don't even need to do a survey to find out. This has been the scenario in India for about 25 years and I don't see it changing in the coming years. I'd personally though love to see football becomig the most popular sport in the country. It smuch more fun to watch. Hope one day people here look beyond cricket and try exploring new territories.

I am from India. Though hockey is our national sport, cricket is the most popular sport here. It is so popular that persons living here consider it to be their religion.

basketball - Basketball is a team sport in which two teams of five active players each try to score points against one another by propelling a ball through a 10 feet (3 m) high hoop (the goal) under organized rules.
In the Philippines, basketball is the more popular, and I have to blame the American influence on us. I know how to play basketball, but it is not much "celebrated" on having female basketball games in the country. I like soccer. I like the rush it gives me when watching it. I have not really played it though.

Well, Baseball is the national sport, but, I would say that Football seems to be more popular, if that makes any sense. I personally don't like sports at all, but, it's common knowledge. Soccer has been growing in popularity in this country for sometime now. By the way, can you tell me how in the world they ever came up with the name Soccer when technically speaking it's called Football? The more people I meet the more I love my cat :) Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

Hi ya ronaldinu I don't think I have to answer this one for you do I? As I am from England it would have to be soccer/football. I like it that much to be honest, actually there are not many sports I like to watch. My son plays rugby on Sunday mornings and I love to watch him and shout from the sideline. I do find that rugger is more of a gentleman's sport in comparison to football!

Football, Then basketball, baseball dropped because the players go on strike too much, hockey, tennis or golf, then soccer. Down south we consider soccer a women`s sport. Usually, if there is a kid on the soccer team that can kick the football coach gets him on the football team to kick.

I don't have any statistics to prove it, but soccer and darts seem to be the major two sports here in Holland. We have some excellent dart players and it seems that playing darts is becoming popular amongst young players aswell. Soccer has allways been very popular in Holland, and it still is.

Football is the most popular sport in Romania too. I don't know what comes second, but it's a large distance from football to anything else. I had no idea Malta is doing well in rugby... I haven't heard of a Maltese national rugby team in major competitions.

Soccer seems to have the largest following here in my country, and it is the English Soccer that is popular. Besides soccer, table tennis and badminton seem to have won over many fans probably because of the better showing by our national teams at competitions. F1 racing seems to have caught on with many people too ever since the first night race on the F1 circuit was hosted in my country a few months back in September.

In India, cricket is by far the most popular sport and almost practiced like a religion. The cricket field consists of a large circular or oval-shaped grassy ground. The pitch where the batsmen have to face the bowler is 22 yards. The objective of the game is to score more runs than the opposing team. The team bowling first tries to bowl out the batting side, and then out score them. Batting and bowling are thus alternated. There are two forms of cricket - Test matches and one day. A 20-20 version of the game is also being played now. India has achieved tremendous success in cricket, by winning the 1983 World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, and finishing as a runner-up in 2003 World Cup under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly. Domestic cricket in India has major tournaments like Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy and Duleep trophy.

I live in Indonesia. The most favorite sport is soccer but I am still wondering why our national team cannot reach an international level of playing. The second favorite sport is Badminton. We have so many talented players from Rudy Hartono (the legend), Alan Budikusuma, Susi Susanti, Taufik Hidayat, to the gold medalist for Olympic 2008, Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan.
