My all time favorite artist is Salvador next to him is Rene Magritte. The painting I added to this post is one I did that combines images that that both Dali and Magritte are know for. These two surrealists in my opinion defined surrealism. Want ot see more of work? go to http://mikesgallery.tripod.com

I do recall Salvador Dali. He painted the melting watching. I'm not too familiar with Rene Magritte.

Sorry for the delay in replying agrant10. Dali became famous in the USA for his melting watches but he was already well know in Europe for his other bodies of work. If you're interested here's a link that tells you about Magritte and shows some of his more famous works. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren%C3%A9_Magritte

I like the painting, it is great. I know Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte, they are some of my favourite artists, and that is probably why your discussion caught my attention. I like surrealism a lot, it is my favourite kind of art. There is a very interesting Dali museum in Paris, I visited it some years ago. I was already interested in Dali before I saw the museum, but there were many things I didn't know about him, so it was really interesting to get to know more about him. I don't remember when I first heart about Magritte, but I got interested in his art when I saw the painting called "The therapist". I wanted to know more about the artist, so I started to look at some of his other paintings, and he became one of my favourtie artists.
