Woman in California gives birth to 8 babies the smallest weighing only 1 pound 8 ounces. She was blessed in that it only took 5 minutes to complete her delivery!!! The doctors were shocked as they thought she was only going to have 7!!! I cannot imagine what it would be like to go from no babies to having 8 newborns overnight. I know Bobbie McCaughey was thrilled with her little bundles of joy!!! And I've been impressed with her love & desire to nurture them!!! The Dad in this situation has to be stressed to the max going from 2 mouths to feed to 10. Can you imagine the diapers it is going to take??? Yes, some kind diaper company will donate diapers to them, but they still will have to change them. I hope they have a LOT OF GOOD FRIENDS!!! Ladies, what is your viewpoint on this sudden windfall??? Guys, what are your thoughts on supporting a sudden clan???

A FIVE minute delivery of eight babies????? Were the Oakland Raider's on the receiving team as they came 'bulleting' out?
This is going to be one tired set of parents. No way could I handle that. I had a panic attack when I was told I was going to have twins!
More power to them both LadyM. And God bless and watch over them all.

There were 46 medical personnel waiting on them. Think....Mom's tummy will only stretch so far. There's 8 babies squished in there. The doctor made the incision & they see daylight & freedom. They pop outta there like popcorn. All the medical people did was catch as fast as they could. It's like stuffing 50 people in a cab & opening the door...gotta give somewhere!!!

I couldn't imagine having 8 children. Or rather all at once. Oh goodness. I think having one or two is enough for me. I can imagine the pain and stress that might be on the parents and will the kids be able to have their own identities?

I just cannot wrap my mind around suddenly having 8 infants to be responsible for. I never got to have children, but when I think of a family, I never think past twins!!!

Wow--I heard about this late last night. I'm glad to hear that they seem to be doing all right even for such tiny sizes. LOL--all I can think is...poor dad...he's going to have to do a lot of extra work just to feed and cloth their kids

What tickles me is when they say they were expecting 7 babies & were surprised when there were 8. After 7, what difference does 1 more make???

I've seen it on the news over here. I wish the family all the luck in the world, they'll need it. I hope they get a lot of help and support, but isn't it great, a ready made familyGod love and protect them

I just pray she has a ton of good friends & a lot of family close by. When I was young & dreamed of having my family, I always wanted twins....one boy & one girl.....then I'd have a complete family with only half the effort. Shows how much I knew about birthing babies!!!

I do wish the best for this family, but I know it would have killed me. I can not imagine how they will cope without alot of help.
Two was my limit and I had my tubes tied when I was 26 so I would not have to stay on birth control forever!

I, too, wish them the best!!! I never wanted more than 2 children & cannot even imagine trying to keep up with 8 crying at the same time, talking at the same time, walking at the same time, learning to explore at the same time, starting school at the same time, getting ready to go anywhere at the same time. Just thinking about it makes me tired!!! I'm sure I'd love each one of them & do my best, but still cannot imagine!!!

wow, I hope all the babies are healthy.
this is great if they are wealthy. but really ha ha.. lots of work to do. it would be great fun though with 10 children? they could make up a football teams soon when they grow up. this is much fun indeed.
just hope they are healthy and that's all

I will start out by saying that I hope all the babies will be ok. It will for sure be a big change in their household. I would also imagine that companies will donate and family and friends will be around to help if they want it. As for me, I am sure I could have done it by in the time I had my children but it would have been very hard and stressful. All the gifts will be given to the children now while they are still small babies but I am sure the real stress will be as they get older and not everyone will be there to help out and it is just left up to mom, dad and other family members who are available.

I, too, hope all these little blessings will be OK. The doctor said today that they ALL seem to be progressing wonderfully. Even the smallest is breathing on its own. Yes, they will be receiving a lot of items from baby companies. I remember when the McCaughey 7 were born. Their Mom turned down some of the items as there were commercial contracts attached to them & she wanted her children to be raised as normally as possible. She feared that having them doing commercials all the time would take away that normalcy. I know seeing them once a year on Ann Currie's special doesn't tell me much, but they do seem to be awfully happy children. I hope these 8 are blessed with common sense parents also!!!

Just saw this on the news. They are so tiny! I was tired enough with one newborn. I'm not sure one, or even two people could even care for that many babies at once. Not and still have time to eat and sleep anyway. They will have to have help. It will be a joy watching them grow and develop though.
I have twin nephews and that alone makes me glad to have had my babies one at time.

Yes, I have to agree. I can't imagine having 8 children one at a time. I sure can't imagine having 8 at one time. If one cries, they all will cry (including Mom)!!!

I have been hearing this story on the news today, how amazing to have all those babies and I just hope that they all survive. I personally would have been horrified to give birth to 8 babies, it is going to take some organisation and hard work to look after them all during the first few months, feeding will be a nightmare!! I wish them all the best for the future though!!

May you be blessed with 8. I think I'll pass on that one. I never wanted more than 2 children. I know I'm not prepared emotionally for more than 2. I admire any woman that is!!!

I saw a status on Facebook the other day that would seem to apply here....
"I think women should stop having kids after 35. Really... 35 kids is enough!"
I just can't even wrap my mind around having that happen. I guess that means it is a good thing that is wasn't me.

Yes, according to the doctor, they should be just fine. He said he will know more after day 3. If no problems crop up in the first 3 days, they're considered to be healthy. They will remain in the hospital for up to 2 months because of their low birth weight.

I probably would have had a heart attack and not survived. I can not imagine having 8 babies at once. After the births, I did hear the 3rd baby had a problem breathing but the doctor's were able to get it under control. Am sure this family will have so many things donated from so many different organizations. It's the second set of octuplets born in the US. An amazing experience. I wish the family well. Mom and dad have a long and hopefully loving road ahead.

If I lived close to a family like that I would love to volunteer to come in to help. Wouldn't that be great to help come in do a four hour shift with babies to help parents get some rest. I would even do laundry. Lets hope they use cloth diapers that would be cheaper.

Hopefully for them alot of big company's will offer their services or give them discounts. And, also, I hope they live in an area where people will be willing to come help them. We have for children and the way things are right economically I personally would be freaking out. We can barely make it now I can't imagine have 8 newborns. I know you manage somehow but just the thought of it stresses me out. But, best of luck to them.

My Goodness! Eight babies! I can't imagine it. I was exhausted and I only had one! I hear about this on the radio; they said that although they are small they are doing well which is great news. I would not cope. I believe that God or who ever you believe is in charge of these things must decide who can manage and who can't which explains why I only have the one. People who have lots of children are special I think; eight babies is extra-extra special! I wish them all the best. What a gift, they will be busy!

Yes LadyMarissa that 8 is really enough. Imagine giving birth to 8 babies. It's not really easy to fed and to took care of eight children. But before that, they already had 6 children. All in all, they had 14 children! Imagine that! I really hope they can support all their children.

Wow! Instant family. get it all out of the way all at once. I think that's great. Everyone else would take ten years to get 8 children and they did it all in 5 min.
congrats to the Ps.
