How aggravating is it when someone starts being nasty, someone is nasty back, and the first person cannot recognize that what they said was the originating offending comment? What makes the first nasty, offensive comment an opinion, and the next one defamatory? Do you step in and try to be a voice for reason? Do you promise yourself you WON'T get involved, but still get dragged in? Do you only intercede if one of your friends is involved?

I seriously try to stay out of things unless someone is actually in physical danger, these days. I've just been in too many stupid arguments at this point.
It is frustrating though, to hear someone act all outraged and hurt when they were the one who started it. That seems to happen a lot, in that people will think they can say something really nasty and get away with it, and when they don't choose to pretend that they didn't do anything in the first place.
Makes me want to strangle someone, which is why I try to stay out of it.

You sound like you are much better at self-control than I am. I would be wise to follow in your shoes.

I only become involved if I *am* involved - through friends or families or principles that I hold. Other than that, I let them quarrel among themselves because they're big enough to sort their problems without anyone else stepping up. It would also be a good lesson to "think before you speak" :) It's a hard lesson to learn, but you just have to some time or another.
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Mostly I seem to see those conversations when I see my friend's postings in my sorties... I know they don't need me to join a fight for them, but sometimes it's hard to resist the temptation. LOL.
