Second half heroics

When it comes to the NHL there is always that big second half story. Last year it was the collapse of the Ottawa Senators and the rise of the Washington Capitals. With the NHL's second half set to get under way tonight what can you predict to be this season's biggest stories of the second half in terms of team production.
Last year a lot of the action came from the East and this year I believe it will be the West to keep an eye on. As much as I would love to see the Blue Jackets tear it up and finally make the playoffs for the first time in their franchise I believe the team to watch is the Dallas Stars. They were considered to be greatly underachieving at one point were even last in the conference. However, a quick turnaround heading into the All-Star break and they currently sit 4 points back of a playoff spot, 6 points out of fifth and have 3, or in some cases 4 less games played then most of the conferences. These point totals could potentially be made up in those extra games, let alone any streaks.

I'm hoping that the Avs will pull off some great second half heroics, but at this point I'm not going to hold my breath. Love em dearly, but damn! If the Avs don't make the playoffs, I'm pulling for the Sharks. They're another team I really like, and I'd love to see my best friends reaction if they won the conference (if not the cup) -- she's a huge Sharks fan.

I have to confess that I don't follow the west like I should. I am a red Wings fan but I live near D.C. what little and I mean little hockey news I get is all about the Caps.I know The sharks were hot in the first half and the Wings were too but I haven't heard about The BlueJackets. This should be a great second half.
