My friend had almost credit card in all banks when she was employed but suddenly the company she was into became bunkrupt so she cant afford to pay her credit card bills anymore. And she was being harrassed by different credit card collector agent and telling her that she will be put to jail if she cant pay the amount she owe to the bank. She's a little bit worried now because this is her first time to be harrassed and received loads of demand letters. What do you think she would do, is it possible for her be put to jail?

I don't know how things work there but in the States, all she would have to do is tell them she wants to see an itemized detail of the charges made to the card. This will accomplish one of two things. Either buy her some time to get the money together to make payments or get her account sold to another agency. And... here, they are not legally permitted to threaten that without sending written notification of the bank's intention to prosecute.
Also, it depends on the amount of money she owes but, for example, I have a credit card in collections for a little over $3000. The first collection company threatened that the bank was going to prosecute. But logically speaking they are a big, multimillion dollar company, it is not worth their time to take me to court over my piddly little bill when they have other customers who owe ten times as much as I do, or more. They will keep selling it to collection companies (generally 3 or 4, maybe 5) until they finally give up and write it off as uncollectable.
To be clear, I'm not dodging my bill. I found out after the card went to collections that the manager at my old apartment got fired for embezzling money from the company and that all of the tenants had their bills cleared because there was no way of knowing if they didn't pay or if she pocketed their payments. Since I used the card to pay my rent a couple of times, she had access to the card so I disputed the balance and found some funny charges I couldn't identify.

In America, they can't do that. I don't think they do that anywhere; I hope not. The worse thing they can do is sue you and the judge works out a payment plam. If you don't show up court, however, then they put you in jail.

Yes it is possible to be put in jail.
That is why I pay my credit cards off first every month.
Some times it gets hard, and I know I can go to jail because of it.
That is just the way it is.
You cannot pay, then they will help you to pay.
Take care.

Hahaha!
That is probably the reason why the jails are overfull!
But, it really goes like that in Europa. In Holland, Belgium and Germany.
Of course it does not happen just like that. You get the opportunity to pay it off.
But, when you really cannot pay anymore, you get a jail sentence. 3 to 6 months.
It would not be a problem, if then the money was paid off because of it.
Seems when you get out, you still have to pay!
Take care.
