Is Hans really German or is he just pretending to be? After Hans is revealed not to be William Clay and the there is a fight, Hans tries to give Karl instructions in German but when Karl doesn't understand them, he needs to repeat himself in English. That doesn't make sense. If he was a real German, couldn't he just have repeated his instructions slower and louder in German instead of resorting to a second language?
