Linkin Park is not Metal

Does anyone else think that Linkin Park are basically pop music money making machines that are tricking kids into thinking they have a musical taste because they listen to hard music or something? they are considered a joke by most metalheads and while I tend to disagree i get frustrated sometimes when people go on about how "'Numb" is epic blablabla. I love some of their songs... Place for my Head and One Step Closer especially but i think their other stuff (which is what most people listen too) is just so-so and definitely shouldn't be called metal.

Linkin Park is definitely not metal. They are a pop rock band who was bought out by a large corporation which probably molded the way they sound. I would guess that their earlier stuff was less trendy and a little bit more melodic while maintaining a heavy component.
If you want metal you should check out Protest The Hero.
