Hi all. I didn't know this little fact. I was home for a month one time and my wife wanted a solid wood front door. i work on the road.We price them, they are costly and she could not find the type she wanted. So for a surprise to my wife i decided i would make her one.please do not ,i repeat do not try this at home.being the tech type i drew it up in auto-cad, made a list of material and went off to the store. I came back and went to work, with my wife hoving in the back ground. About half way complete with the door she figured out what it was. Then she started telling how to do it. I can not stand for someone to tell me how to do something i came up and desizied . She would not let "It's a surprise" stand she wanted to know every aspect of the project and give me a running play by play as we went. After a number of attempts of my wife to change my surprise during the coming days i finish the door. i cut, sanded the wood, stained and put protective coating on it. It was beautififul solid wood door with window running a 1/4 down from the top and the bottom had a window box that open for my wife dream catcher. we are native American. i started to hang the beautiful front door when my wife told me the door has to open in. I was going to flap the door upside down but because the way i made the door the window would be at the bottom and the dream catcher would be on the inside "that bad luck too" it would not work. i had to take it all a part and put it back together. We have had people stop take picture and ask where we got your door. but, like i said before don't try this at home

This is a wonderful post. I love the story but what intrigued me most was the reference to a dream catcher. what is this? It is a wonderful expression but I can only guess that it is to let only good dreams in the house. am I right? I am happy that you foxed the door the way she wanted it to be fixed. Please can you let me know about the dram catcher? Many thanks

Hi.my wife and i are both native American.it is own belief that the dream catcher only let's good dream into the house.we put them at our door and above own beds.we believe there is a lot of power in dreams. most of it is good but, like life some bad. My wife makes them for own family. they are also a sign to welcome visitor to the house.

Almost all doors in my house opens in, not out. Its good when your door opens parallel to the wall and felt comfortable too.It wont take much space when it opens inside.
