i am a SAHM, so i'm very hands on. if i was working full time, i would absolutely think of having a nanny rather than taking my kids to a day care center though. i've heard way too many horror stories about day care centers, and think with a nanny you get more one on one interaction which is much better for your child

I'm a stay at home mother of 5 and have one on the way in 4 months. I've always taken care of my children..I don't beleive in nannies if the parent is going to be home. There alot of parents out there who have the time to play with their children but don't due to the fact that they are stuck on their own lifestyle. I beleive that children benifit better from having a parent at home more so than a nanny. Most kids after time develope a feeling of unsecurity and unworthyness when it comes towards their parents if they aren't getting enough attention from them. Don't get me wrong I think in today's society it's to dang hard for one parent to stay home and tend to the children..I guess I've just gotten lucky.

yeah, i see your point. that's why that for many times during our 11-year marriage, i've been tempted to go back to the workfield and yet, i still hesitated. i've seen the effects of kids left at home with nannies all the time and i vowed i won't do that to my kids. yes, i have a nanny but i'm right beside her. all major decisions, i always make them.

you have a good point there. here in the philippines, the choices are just nanny or school coz we don't have a lot of daycares here. daycare would sometimes mean pre-school. but if we did have one, i'd probably not leave my kds there.

I am a hands on mom. Even if I wanted a nanny I couldent afford one. I preferto be the one to raise my kids, change there diapers and teach how to talk. If I were to hire anyone it would be as a babysitter so Ican work, that is it.

Im a full time single mom, and very hands on. I do have a baby sitter, that looks after the children when i have to work nights. But thats about it. The rest of the time, its all up to me.. i love it.. wouldnt change it for the world.

i just wonder, when our kids have grown and seeing that we're as close to them as we could be, would it hurt when the time comes to let them go?

I am a stay at home mom, so I am as hands on as you can get. While I wouldnt mind having a sitter once in a while, we dont very often.

there are really times that you just have to get away from motherhood for a while, like, maybe just you and your hubby? sometimes, couples need quality time together, too.

for those of you who have jobs, you really have to hire one and we don't take that against you. i'm into a business right now that i can dictate my own hours and yet there's still a need for me to have a nanny.
