Well it has been 7 days and I am doing great. Although I have had terrible mood swings and have cried the last 3 days. I am hoping that this is normal and will pass soon. However not my new project is to lose 20lbs minimum by summer. So this gives me roughly 4 months. I know I can do it. So I thought maybe posting my progress on here would help keep me accountable. I am sitting at 140.6 last night. I will weigh again on Tuesday of next week. Lets pray for one pound at least. LOL!

That's great. Keep working on it. My friends used to smoke and I try to tell them not to smoke. Somehow they had listened to me and stopped smoking for now. They say its hard to resist. I always tell them "no pain no gain". Anyway, Good luck and be smoke free :)

Congratulations baileycow! Good for you. It is normal to experience the mood swings, crying anyway. As for loosing a minimum of 20 pounds, I'm with you there. I must loose at least twenty also. Christmas really sis it for me. I can barely fit into my cloths and is annoying. Great idea to post your progress. I love that idea! I am too embarrassed to type how much I weight right now but I do have ten pounds on you! I am pleased to read your post! I have started a low carb, low fat diet. I exercise everyday. I am hoping that within a few months I will be able to wear my normal pants again Keep us posted. I am totally into reading your progress as this will continue to give me the incentive that I could use also. Thank you for this discussion!

Good job quitting, and I hope you do very well on your weight loss. Maybe you should post what you are doing when you post your progress like what you ate calories that kind of stuff and what you did to work out if you did or not. So then maybe people could give you suggestions and comment and maybe you can give other people ideas and inspire them too. I'm not really trying to lose weight the opposite actually I'm trying desperately to gain 40 pounds because I'm way to skinny but I still keep track of my calories and workout all the time just in different ways. Goodluck!!!

I tried quiting back in Dec. I made it 5 days with no problem then on the 6th day I had a nervous breakdown and went crazy. So I started up again. I think the main reason it was hard for me to quit was cause Im in the middle of planning a wedding so Im going to try again after the weddings over with.

Dear baileycows, I take my hat off to you because you are doing great, you are amazingly courageous and strong and you will achieve all your goals because you´ve taken the decision to do so, and that´s all it takes to rid of all bad habits in our lives, not because they´re telling us is bad for our health, not because people judge you and certainly not because everyone is doing it or places are forcing you to not smoke in their reataurants or bars, but because YOU MADE THE DECISION to end with them, I was a heavy smoker many years ago, and like you I felt back then that the time had come to quit, in the beginning it was hell, specially because of the mood swings but then things were getting better, I was taking one day at a time as well as baby steps, YOU ARE A WINNER, I know you are, and I congratulate you.

WOW Congratulations. The first 3 weeks are the hardest. Take lots of bubblebaths and go and treat yourself to a massage or go swimming - the kind of things that are good for you and you dont relate to smoking. The crying is par for the course as you are going cold turkey. I joined Nicanon which is a brilliant group to keep motivated and where people understand what you are going through. There is no reason you cant lose weight if you get yourself a trampoline (mini) and excercise to music. Watch what you eat - small regular meals and lots of fruit. Good Luck!

Good job on quitting! My brother dumped his lights and pack of cigs recently and announced that he was also quitting. It's been good so far, he's only fifteen so he shouldn't be smoking anyway. Good luck on your weight loss too!

Congratulations on quitting smoking. It is hard to do and you will probably be moody for awhile. However, it will go away! As for loosing weight...that can be a lot harder. Your time frame is a good one since you shouldn't loose more then 1-2 pounds a week. You should probably set up a plan for how you are going to loose weight (change eating habits, increase exercise, ect).

That's good for you! You should be pround of your self. It will not only help you but it will also improve your health because after 15 years of not smoking your lungs will return to normal and you will be able to live a nice long healthy life.
