No job for me until this time, sad! But, I am staying positive since I know I have no control about it! LOL!
I started to volunteer at the gift shop in one of the Hospitals here in our city. It was fun. I am trained as a cashier and I enjoy working with 2 other ladies.
Is there anyone here who are also applying for jobs? How is your search?
For those who are working, enjoy and please inspire us! hehehehe!

Hi Che,
Congratulations for having that opportunity to work as volunteer. At least that is a stepping stone for you to have a a regular job someday. It is always normal for immigrants like us to sacrifice for a time but let's just be positive. Someday we will be able to make it. It is always the case when we are new to the place. Good motto: STAYING POSITIVE...Positive thinking helps.

Hi Bebs,
I know this is too far from what I did in our beloved Country but I just need to know people, you know!
Thanks also for being positive! It is always nice to talk with or hang out with people who are optimistic, and you're one of them!
Good luck to everyone of us in this journey!

Hi Che,
I know what you mean and I feel what you feel. I had experienced to do volunteer work right when I arrived here which is very far from my field. I help in the school canteen preparing food for the kids and it makes me feel bad. Here I am a teacher and work in the canteen. I had experienced so many things that I have never done before.
I do painting jobs, putting up bricks, cleaning the house, sewing hahaha. We Filipinos have different mentality when it comes to meanial jobs but most American ladies are doing the work of men here. I was inspired by one Filipina who never say no to any work her hands can do. Sometimes, when we have degree we will not do low K jobs hahahaha but, that is wrong. We are now in a different country. We have to do everything we can in order to survive. Good luck and thanks for the BR.

Hey friend. Great that you are staying positive as attitude is very important. I have always wnated to be some volunteer but I have to support myself. I am working now and I am secure at my current job. Our company is one of the few that are still employing new guys. But I am also a little depressed coz I not really into mu work here. I intended to change one but the crisis followed and then I decide it's better to stay, ooops.
It's not so easy to get a new job now, let alone the one you are into. Anyway, it wil be an experience and ppl say it's useful for my career life, though I may not like it. OK, let's stay positive. The situation is improving. It can't be bad all the time. Government is working to create more jobs.

Hi Denise,
You are correct, just stay with that job since it is very hard to find a job this time with a lot of lay offs everywhere!
I know sometimes we need to sacrifice just to earn, in my case, I am even applying jobs even if it is too beyond my education! Enjoy!

There are many people who are looking for work and can't find it, just because they have limited themselves to only a particular type of work, they need to broaden up their boundaries or the type of work to choose, there is lot of work available, but just that they are not taken up as the job seekers don't find it suitable for them. But an advice for everyone who are looking for job, is that just take up any job till the time, you don't get the job of your choice, at least you will have some income coming in, rather than nothing at all.

You are indeed a very brave person to be so optimistic in these depressing times. Though I am still working and consider myself lucky, yet I feel so depressed sometimes. Either the boss is in one of his worst moods and I just feel like throwing in my papers on his face and walking out, but I cant while at other times, I suffer from job insecurity. I wish you all the best in your endeavours.

Hello checapricorn,
I know you are sad but keep looking for a job. Stay positive and never give up. I am still working and just think of this - you don't have to wake up early in the morning every day, spend time to get ready and commute to your work place. Nobody will scold you if you make mistake... *laughs* So enjoy your free time while you can, and when the time comes to start working, enjoy it too! Have a great day!

Doing volunteer work is a good idea... my friend who is currently in Washington right now is also doing the same thing... because that would certainly prove that she is serious about landing a job at the company... so for now... sacrifice... and then reap the good rewards later...
You have nothing to lose but everything to gain in what you are doing... so keep it up...

the year is still fresh we have to stay positive. i am not on a job hunt but i am waiting for something that maybe can change our financial status. it has been a slow year for most of us for 2008 was a roller coaster ride. i am staying positive for that is what we need. when we feel and think positive we build this aura around us that magnets luck. smile and keep looking for one, i know you will come up with something that you are going to be satisfied with. goodluck

Nice to hear that my friend. Good luck to that... As I have posted today, I am pretty scared with some our countrymen who lose their jobs these times of crisis. Some companies had already laid-off employees and even the government agencies are starting to lay-off some people too, I can say that I am more fortunate that I am secured with my job that I have now. Thanks to Him...

I am jobless, I haven't started applying for any jobs yet, I am eligible for unemployment insurance, however I am looking for a job, if I apply I would have to accept and my unemployment insurance benefits pays more than what most jobs around here are offering, no one is really hiring the county I live in is has the secondest highest in uemployment in the state. We were first but just a week ago another county passed this county.
I have did any volunteer work yet, that is my next step to solving the boredom for now.
