I was beginning to think Dollhouse got shot down before it even got its wings. The spring seasons have started for the most part and I hadn't seen anything about this one. But finally I saw a commercial for it. It's starting February 13th!! Leave it to Joss Whedon to get his new sci-fi/horror series to start on Friday the 13th hehe
If you haven't seen or heard anything about this one, here is the synopsis from TV.com:
The Dollhouse is a very secret, and very illegal, place where wishes come true. Clients with the right connections and enough money can hire "Actives", people who have been programmed to perfectly fulfill the needs, and desires of their clients. The Actives are people who have chosen, for their own reasons, to surrender their bodies and minds for a five-year stay in the Dollhouse. Now they can be imprinted with any personality, skill, or even muscle memory. They can be the perfect companion, lover, spy, assassin; and when the job is done they forget everything.
But something is wrong with the Active called "Echo". No longer just a blank slate waiting for her next assignment, Echo is remembering flashes of the lives that she has lived and the games she has played, and she is starting to wonder just who she really is...
Echo is Eliza Dushku, for Buffy/Whedon fans of old.

I am so stoked for this series. My wife and I were total buffy/angel fans!
We didn't really get into firefly. The opening song just killed it for me (the whole space cowboy theme didn't quite jibe). We did enjoy the movie though.
It seemed like there was a drought of occult-ish shows since Angel went off the air. I couldn't get into moonlight, but was happy when Heroes started. Now that Heroes is in full swing, and Fringe is growing on me, I think it will be a great year for the occult with Dollhouse in the mix!

Ghost Whisperer seems to be doing fairly well, but from what I've seen of the previews, it's getting a little bizarre...what with her husband dying and being brought back to life without his memories. But yeah Heroes is doing incredible and Fringe seems to be doing well in the ratings. So, hopefully, Dollhouse will do well. I'd hate for Joss Whedon to endure another disaster like Firefly after Buffy and Angel were such amazing successes.

I've been hearing it got shelved, then they rewrote the pilot, then production was shut down...I'm glad it finally got a date to premiere. I think it would have been better if it had premiered in the fall, instead of a midseason replacement. I like Joss Whedon, and Eliza Dushku. I just hope the network gives it a chance to have an audience.

Buffy was a midseason replacement, and look what became of it. I think it will do well, especially on Fox. Fox seems a little more willing to give their "sci-fi" type shows a chance. Although Dollhouse is up against some pretty tough contenders on Friday nights - Numbers, Ghost Whisperer, Friday Night Lights... I'm not sure which time slot it's taking, it looks like the last one of the night, after the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I saw a commercial for the show a couple weeks ago and was pretty excited. I think it look like it'll be good. Joss Whedon has done some really great shows in the past and I liked Eliza's old show 'Tru Calling' (though it got a bit ridiculous toward the end...).
It seems like a cool idea for a show and I hope it does well.

I saw a preview, but it didn't look interesting. Now I think I may have to check it out... Thanks Crimson!

This is a Joss Whedon series, so it must be goooood. :) I loved his two other series: "Firefly" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". I think Mr. Whedon is a very talented guy, and he always gets away with anything he would conceptualize, because he is brimming with so much creative talent!
I can't wait to see Eliza Dushku here. I've been a fan of this girl for ages, especially when I saw her TV series where she plays the role of a time-travelling chick. I think it was entitled Tru Calling, I'm not so sure with my facts right now.
Anyway, I hope this show is one of the best shows this year and I'm wishing Joss Whedon the best of luck! I will definitely be watching this one.

He also wrote and produced all of the Buffy spinoff series, Angel, and the screenplay for the original Buffy movie. Also Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog which was nominated for a People's Choice (and won!) for "Favorite Online Sensation."
A little (off topic) trivia about Dr. Horrible...
Nathan Fillion who played the "Hero" also worked with Joss on Buffy and Firefly (but not Dollhouse ).
The cast was entirely volunteer... they were paid later with proceeds from downloads of the soundtrack on iTunes.
A continuation has been confirmed!
