My four-year-old daughter is starting to get addicted to t.v. When she wakes up in the morning, the first thing she does is open the tv set, sit down on the lazy chair, suck her thumb and watch Disney channel. When she goes home from nursery class, she would again open the tv, suck her thumb and watch tv. I have set a lots of rules to stop this bad habit. No t.v. before eating, no t.v before homework is done, no t.v. if she misbehaves. So far, she has been following. It's just that when both me and my husband are out and she is left with the househelper, she can watch t.v. for as long as she wants. I read in babycentre.com that children should watch t.v. for a maximum of only 2 hours a day and that too much t.v. could be a cause of an a.d.d. (attention deficiency disorder)-like behavior. For two weeks now, my child's teacher has been complaining about my daughter's misbehavior in class - i.e. talking with her classmates while the teacher is discussing, walking and playing around, not seriously joining in the singing. Could this be caused by too much t.v. or is my child just being she is - a playful kid. Should this be a cause of concern?

My grandson was forbidden to watch t.v. and he has A.D.D. I ALWAY THOUGHT AS LONG AS THEIR WATCHING SOMETHING GOOD OR INFORMATIVE AS THE BIG " D " HAS IT WOULD BE ALRIGHT. I WOULD LIMIT THE SHOWS SHE'S ALLOWED TO WATCH, NO SPONGE PANT'S BOB OR THAT RUBBISH AND NICKELODEON CHANNEL ALLWAYS USED TO HAVE SOME GOOD STUFF, BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY. COULD BE SHE'S TO ADVANCED FOR THAT CLASS AND NEEDS TO MOVE UP, MAYBE SHE'S BORED, THERE'S PLENTY OF KIDS SMART AS A WHIP, COULD SHE BE ONE ? ANYWAY GOOD LUCK.

I have thought of that also. I know my daughter is smart and could probably be just bored. She's not doing very bad things anyway. She just cannot keep still and quiet. The teacher says my daughter listens and participate in class. I do hope you're right. Thanks!

I think it is normal for any 4 year old to love the television. just make sure she knows that she cannot watch it all day.
