hello jeckoy
and welcome to Mylot and i hope that you enjoy it around here. and good luck to you in finding the right dog. my family and myself have a female dog, and she was a stray. we named her Doughnut and we have no idea what kind of a dog that she even is. but she has been the best dog. she goes outside to do her business, she knows how to shake hands, sit, stay, and she even gives hugs and kisses.
take care and have a beautiful day today!

puppies really have a desctructive stage. their teeth are growing and they really like to bite and chew stuff. if you don't want this you might want to get a rescued dogs. they have profiles in their records and the personnel will be able to assist you in finding a right dog.
usually smaller breeds don't really require a lot of exercise. they can stay in a flat and be happy just running around there. i found my mini-schnauzer is much easier to teach than my shihtzu. beware also of other breeds that are stubborn by nature.
i would have recommended a jack russel terrier. but i haven't had one so i'm not sure if they require walks or if they're capable of being left out in a secured yard to play by themselves. jack russells are very energetic, active, alert, and highly intelligent.
good luck!
