Publishing a book.

I'm interested in publishing a book. Have you done it before? If so, what type was it.. was it a novel or a picture book or an article, etc.?

My first two books are coming out in March, and they're each published through traditional publishers. I've self-published a couple of books through LuLu.com, but nothing much really happened with them. All of my books are non-fiction, though I would love to write a novel one day.
