How about building a fence/wall around our boarders to stimulate the economy?

Building a fence...while a good idea....will not really solve this problem. They would dig tunnels under them or climb over it. We need STRICT enforcement of our immigration laws. Massive rounds ups...deport them...when the national guard gets back from Iraq put them on the border. We need to throw them out and keep them out.
I am not meaning all immigrants. Just the ones who CHOSE to come here illegally. I am all for legal immigration. So if you can't come here the right way and follow the law...then don't come here at all.

Yeah, but not just any old chain link fence. Something really heavy duty, with electric wires and razor wires. Even something that starts with concrete about 6 feet under, that would be harder to dig under. I mean with the great minds we have today, someone should be able to create something that would work. What do you think?
I do agree with you that we need stricter enforcement on illegal immigrants. This includes punishing business who hire them and stop coddling them, delivering their babies in our hospitals and everything else. I'm just tired of them taking advantage of the US. Especially now with so many people loosing their jobs - I would rather have an American have a job then some illegal.
And yeah, I'm not against immigrants at all. I welcome anyone anywhere who wants to come here legally and be a contributing member of our society. LEGALLY.

And kill American farms whose properties cross ever-so-slightly over the border. FUN...'cause TOTALLY, we can do with less farms...and screw people's property rights, huh?

US already operates quite protectionist trade policies. Ask yourself this to whom do you export products and goods if other countries do the same?

It's been done before and failed terribly. Did you know that the fence/wall between east and west Germany was originally not build to keep people from leaving East Germany but to keep people from coming there. Right after the war East Germany was actually better off and got supply lines going faster than the west. So, to shut out the west and to protect their war spoils the Russians decided it would be a good idea to build a wall/fence to shut out the west and other allies. They build the wall around Berlin to take over the complete city.
Well, we all know how quickly all of that changed...
No, a wall/fence is not the solution. We already have a fence along parts of the border with Mexico, btw. I don't think it did much in terms of curbing illegal immigration. Besides, growth of this country in part relies on immigration growth. This includes growth in demand for consumer goods.

I'm an American white guy living in Monterrey Mexico and have done a lot of construction work in the border town of Laredo Texas, I travel across the border a lot. And the first thing I'd like to point out is most of this country doesn't have a clue as to what is going on around this area, a fence is not a solution to any problem in this area. Believe me there;s a real threat here and a fence is a waste of money, what purpose would the fence serve? The people coming here will not be stopped or even slowed down by a fence.More armed border patrol agents would help a lot. But these cartels have billions of dollars for bribes. They are not stupid just the other way around, they've been doing this for years and they have the big bucks to back them up.We need to get the Mexican Government to allow our trained people to go there and wipe these people out! I'm serious, Ive been predicting this for many years and it's really getting out of hand. Americans better wake up before it's to late! Sorry to be so specific but it's reality! Good luck and have fun here!!! tdemex
