Obama is a bit of an Energy Hypocrit

Apparently he is a do as I say and as I will get laws passed to make you do but not as I do type of President. He wants green this and green that and higher mileage standards that will make us have to pay higher prices for cars, etc. But according to a nightly news program he keeps the Oval Office so warm that at least one of his aids breaks out in a sweat just sitting there and Obama can run around in shirt sleeves. Meanwhile I'm trying to be able to afford my utility bill and conserve energy resources by keeping my house so cold that I'm still cold even when wearing three layers with two of them being flannel shirts. I'm a type guy who sweats heavily when exercising even at a brisk walk. Due to the cold lately I have been trying to get at least a little exercise inside by walking rapidly in a tight figure eight in my small living room and dining and my place is so cold that I don't even come near to a sweat after 30 minuts at a brisk pace. Yet my tax dollars are going for Obama to work in shirt sleeves in an office warm enough to make people sweat who are just sitting there.

i'm pretty sure not all, or better yet not most of your tax dollars go to keeping the electricity going in the white house. i think you're just jealous that he's living comfortably warm in the white house while you and others mid-west to east coast are freezing. i dont have that problem here since its bout 60-70 degrees in cali, but him wanting to create better energy has no relation to him wanting to stay warm. yes he does want to improve things, and until things get improved we have to make do with what we have

I didn't say most of my tax dollars went to keeping his office too warm but it sets a bad example. I live in New Mexico and it is not so cold as many areas but utilities are still very expensive and we do get down in the twenties and sometimes teens regularly at night. The high yesterday was 42 which was only slightly below average. If he wants to improve things, he could start by setting a good example rather than the opposite.

I am upset by the double standard too. It seems like it is all about me.
I am also concerned because The Oval Office is more than an Office is is a symbol and the place where he conducts official business and I think that a coat and tie should be worn in such places. I would not expect the President of a bank to show up in shirt sleeves to a meeting with his staff.

He also harkens back to the Clinton days in that he does not put much stock on being on time which in my opinion is very disrepectful of others. I remember when Clinton came to my town he was always and hour or more late for his appearances, etc. That is one thing that you can say for Bush, he was always very good at managing his time, he was never a minute late when he came to town.

So far, I haven't seen Obama care about whether he lives up to the ideals he sets for everyone else.
Just look at who he picked for Treasury Secretary.

Hmmm...to think...if he controlled the heat and didn't waste it - maybe he wouldn't have had to freeze the white house staffs pay...
Just a thought.
