a helpful tip!

I feel silly that it took me so long to figure this out- but maybe this tip will help you too!
Okay, you know the lids on stick deodorants like Secret, Suave, and Dove? I have a hard time getting the lids off because my grip is either too tight and it cuts into the sides of the deodorant or it is too loose and I cant get it open.
It just occurred to me this morning to take about 4-5 inches of duct tape, stick each end on each side of the lid, and pinch the tape together over the top. Now you have an easy pull tab to take the lid off! So much easier!

hi shawna...that is terrific. i love it when we can come up with a way to do something that wouldn't work for us before. that's a good idea. i always had trouble getting lids of jars so i learned to use something heavy and hit it on either side of the lid or use a rubber grip. that made all the difference. it's nice when we can help ourselves.

That reminds me of the time I was trying to get a jar of jelly open. I whacked it hard on the counter top and my husband came running to see what happened! I explained that if I whack the lid, it comes open and he scolded me, saying I was going to break the jar. Actually, I think I scared him- he probably thought I fell or dropped something!

yeah that would be scary and alarming when someone doesn't know what's happening. the deal with hitting the lid on either side is applying equal pressure. sometimes i hit all around the top hehe. but i get them open.
