How would you rate yourself as a cook? Are you an amateur or a professional?

I think I'm a little bit of both. I can cook really well (almost like a pro) if I'm just using the stove top or I'm preparing desserts that aren't needed to be baked--- but I have problems when I bake stuff. I still haven't mastered the this cooking technique and I always burn whatever I put in that hot oven.
Hahaha. I am such a dweeb when it comes to baking.
How about you? What can you say about your "abilities" as a cook?

It takes a lot of practice. I've had whole summer vacations devoted to cooking and I still feel like an amateur, especially when I bake. Although it's really nice when a girl will praise me about my dishes. It adds to the charm, I guess. LOL.

i'm not a very good cook but it's edible. my husband has to eat so he doesn't complain. =) they say cooking is more experimental while baking is scientific. the measurements in cooking can be estimated according to taste but in baking, they have to be exact.

Hello friend. I am definitely an amateur cook, as i just recently started preparing other foods apart from the traditional tea, french fries, and eggs that anyone knows to do. I am learning more in the last 2 years that i had my whole life, and i think this is an ongoing process as i am young and will need to know how to cook for my wife and why not, for me.

Im somewhere in the middle. I love cooking and never have enough time to enjoy it. I can make a good meal for all seasons. Love to bake as well. I enjoy coming up with my own ideas to share with my children and grandchildren. It surprises them and I enjoy doing it. I make a mean strawberry shortcake from scratch. Every year my daughter requests it for her birthday...she is now 28 lol She is actually a really good cook as well. Im glad I rubbed off.

I guess on how you would define professional.I was raised in the south by my grandma.I learned so much from watching her cook.I mean from adding lard to make beans taste better to making the best dumplings and chicken you can find.
I also date an Italian man for some 5 years now.I have captured the art of this cooking..So in my words I would say 8 on a scale of 1-10
