Unwelcomed mylot absences..... Does it bother you as much as it does me?

Let's admit it! This site draws us in whether we expected it to or not and becomes an integral part of our lives. We make countless friends that we have never even physically met in most cases, but they are people that we end up feeling unbelievably close to and miss when we don't interact with them as often as we'd like. It's strange really when you think about it! It's an online site with nothing but words and pictures. What an interesting change to the concept of socialization, sites like mylot have created..... I have been very busy with my job lately so have not been able to come to mylot anywhere near as much as I am used to. And boy does this frustrate me! There are only so many hours in a day and I just can't find the time lately. And there's so much bizarre stuff going on here lately too! So what about yourself? Do you get as disappointed as I do when real life tends to take up too much of your time and affects your time on mylot?

Sounds like somebody is having some bad withdrawal symptoms. I heard Coke (the soda) helps with the sugar cravings. I used to get bothered when I don't get to mylot at all. It seemed like my day would not be complete. But I have been busy lately as you have been that it has been relegated to the back of the long list that needs to get done during the day. Most importantly, I prioritize sleep now before myLot. But that does not mean I do not miss the friends I've met here and I know I have been slacking at myLotting lately and I hope to get better at it again by February.

Thank goodness you clarified that it was soda you were referring to SaintAnne. I am sure I will find a happy medium eventually. I am just used to being able to balance mylotting and work quite effectively in the past and to suddenly not be in a position to do that requires quite a mental adjustment I think! As for sleep, what the heck is that??? lol. I have never been much of a good sleeper unfortunately, but I do manage to avoid being online at odd hours of the morning. Thanks for the comments and I look forward to seeing you more in February. Hopefully by then, I too will have found a good balance.

Hello James. This also happens to me, yes, and it does bother me, especially now in my stupid session exam. I had a really bad exam today as i read all that was needed for it 12 times in the last 5 days, and still i could not be happy about what i wrote- the thing is he gave us subjects that were not in our learning materials and that really sucked; but i got way off point. The thing is that i miss it especially when i can see my girl... no girl, no mylot, no fun... you know what i mean :D If i have the choice to be with my girl and enjoy her company or stay on mylot, i think the choice is pretty obvious.

Heya elitess! Sorry to hear that your exam today didn't go so well. I remember you mentioning a week or so ago that this was exam time, so hopefully there's not much longer to go and you can relax a little. By the way, I figured you may have been absent from the GF lately, given the pics you've been posting! It will all be back to normal soon, so stay positive! Thanks for responding mate and good luck with the rest of your exams if you haven't finished them yet.

Well according to my recent life.. I am very free now days taking a break from my college. Preparing for another college actually. So When My life gets busy I kind of like it!!! Its really good to have a busy life specially when you like what you are doing and obviously WITH vacations. I do missed mylot earlier(during my college days) but I don't exactly miss it now. I do have internet pal as well.. But I don't miss him as well. We exchanged numbers and now we can talk to each other any time we want. And about other friends.. Then I should say that I am not a very social girl. I don't care about keeping in touch with old friends like school friends or people you just met while you where traveling. Actually they were [b]never good friends[b]. I have a small circle of friends. My care taker who lived with us for like 13-14 years.. I make sure to be in touch with her.(she got married last year) And yes my aunt and no one else. (I live with my parents) So I don't miss people whom I've even met.. So missing my online pals is a far away thing. But mylot is kind of addiction to me. I like asking endless questions here!!! It is so good to have something with you with whom you can keep on asking questions about everything!!!! And sharing my views here makes me feel about my worth!!! And yes you are a handsome man.

lol. Well if you like to chat, then you're certainly in the right place stella! For me it's all about being able to interact with many different people in an easy and direct fashion. I am living in a foreign country at the moment (Cairo) and mylot provides a pretty solid social link in my life. Before this I was in India for a year; and before that it was Asia for almost 2 years..... So when you consider how long I've been away from my home-country friends, sites like mylot are an absolute Godsend for me! I would be telling lies if I said that mylot wasn't an addiction for me too actually; andf I honestly never thought I could get attached to a site like this. My workload is increasing these days and I really do miss this site, even though I do manage to come on here most days still. It's just not for as long as I am used to and this does bother me a lot. Oh well, it's better to have some time here than none at all I guess! And it seems you got a compliment in there at the end, so thank you for that.

For me it's a vicious circle. As much as I like being here on myLot, if I'm here it's because offline work is slack. Online ventures are a hobby for me to be done in my spare time as I can't pay the rent with them. So if I'm here it's because I have little offline. When I'm busy offline I wonder what I'm missing here but as I know I will get back as soon as things slack off again therefore I'm not really disappointed. I know that one day soon I will be able to be here as much as I like because before too long I will be able to give up my job. Ah how time passes

It's certainly not a money making focus for me here either. Maybe hobby is a good way to put it, but for me it's mainly a means for me to keep social as best I can and to also provide myself with an escape from my daily grind. My job can be very serious most of the time, so to muck around on here regularly to create a balance means the world to me. I wish you all the best in being able to give up working. It's some way off for me to be able to consider things like this yet, but I too look forward to the day when I can relax a little more and pursue things because I WANT to, not because I have to! Thanks mysdianit.

I have been quite busy myself this week, and only sporadically respond to things here. I miss not being here, picking on your for your typos, swooning over that guy with the armpit, slurping up milk with puppy, laughing at the fish's discussions and comments, and just being silly in general with FrootLoop and every body else. Not to mention that our discussion has been abandoned with only one day left to go. It does irritate me, but, I am getting busy, so that is a good thing.

I guess being busy is a good thing for both of us Diddly, but still! And I never really thought about how devastating it might be for you by not having my typo's to hone in on. If I had of been more active the last week or so, you may have had the chance to pick up on mistakes like "picking on your for your typos"! I miss the interactions so much because it provides me with such a needed escape. As for the abandoned discussion between us, we did it proud regardless! Thanks for the comments and nice to hear from you. Keep on keeping on and we'll bang heads again soon I'm sure!

Yeah James. I too have been away from mylot due to some reasons or the other and in the same way have noticed your absence as well. Even in office when busy or out, try to get some way or the other to sneak in and see what's happening, start some discussion and see which of the friends are active . Good to know that it's your job which has been keeping u active. All the best.

I've noticed you being absent too Alok and have missed you! I am trying to sneak in when and where I can, but the issue is that I am travelling around a bit lately, so can't always be in front of a PC. I like your angle about it being my job that's keeping me active by the way. Better this than something bad! Thanks for the response and for putting things into a positive perspective for me.

Travelling ? But you still manage to sneak in some time though. My absence is primarly because of the professional responsibilities and some health issues which you know had kept me up the same time a couple of weeks ago. But such is the speciality of this place. Hard to keep away. Guess you need to catch up on the panda spanking big time. Keep the concentration on the work for now and once you decide to bang your head on the table let me know and we can get on the spanking big time.

I have to agree with fwidman, sometimes it is unavoidable that your personal life is so busy that you have little time for mylot. When I have exams going on in my part-time studies and my part-time job gets crowded aswell their seems to be to little hours in a day or even a week without even counting personal time for friends and family into it; let alone mylot! I have an exam next monday so there was little mylot time for me aswell. The time I do spend when I have little time goes to my dear mylot friends like you have described; which you haven't met but have become a part of your daily routine. I surely missed you around James, good to hear from you! .

Thanks for understanding. I am very happy to be so dedicated to my studies and to enjoy them; it's hard to be dedicated to something where your heart doesn't really lie so I consider myself lucky. And off course, if you want to be good at your profession there has to be time spend . It surprised me to not see you go for a term like 'pedagoogling' or something funny like that, OMG James have you grown up while being away from mylot?! Please say it isn't so! *tips over with chair and all*

Yes, that is true. Socializing over the net is becoming popular especially to busy people who do not have time to spare meeting physical friends due to work commitments and wherever they are they can still chat through the net, at least to kill the boredom when they are outstation. Mylot is indeed a great place to socialize and have made many friends over the years. There are times when I feel that the friends I met here are closer than those real physical friends I have. Over time the friendships created here have a different kind of closeness which is different from what I have had before in real world. Through experience I tend to miss them when they are missing in action and likewise when I am off for a few days there will be messages send to my box. That is maybe part of the reasons why I have been here for quite a while. It is difficult for me to say goodbye to mylot as the friends I have made here has become part of my life.

Hi zandi. I don't think we've ever crossed paths before? Nice to meet you! I can realte 100% to your comments about feeling closer to some of your online friends than you do to people in the real world. I feel very much the same way! I am living and working in a foreign country, my family and friends are a very long way away; and I gain tremendous solace and joy from my interactions with many wonderful people on this site. From one angle, I can't help but feel somewhat disappointed that socialization is taking such an impersonal turn because of the internet; but on the flip side, in many ways and for many people, it's a Godsend! It would be very, very difficult for me to walk away from this site too. All I can hope for now is that I am able to find a positive balance between being active on this site AND handling my work committments in parallel. Thanks for your comments.

Well no. Because I always know my priorities and know that I will come back to mylot whenever I am free. I have made very good friends here who understand the necessary absences. What worries me more is the total absence of a handful of my friends from mylot as a bunch for quite some time now. It cannot be a coincidence that two of three of my best friends are not to be seen. I am beginning to worry whether they are banned or fallen prey to some monster here.

As for your missing friends, there's a lot of weird happenings here lately and it really doesn't make any sense at all. I hope they pop up soon and it will be business as usual for you. I do miss Mylot if I hasn't been here in a while, I haven't been here much this week as I have a deadline for two things looming. But I finished the deadlines items up earlier today. Now I'm back to Mylotting as per more my usual schedule. I want to do 25 more posts today. I hope to make a dollar here today. Followed by $2 plus on Thursday and $2 plus on Friday. That will put me at payout before I go to New Heaven on Friday for my gymnastics research trip.

I am very fond of My Lot and when I can spend much time on it I feel happy about that. However if I am really busy and therefore have limited time on My Lot I feel sad about that. When I go off traveling I love that however I do miss spending time on My Lot. When I come home I adore going back on to wonderful My Lot as soon as possible. Real life can take up and I have avoiding filling in a long and boring form from my son's play group. I rushed to complete it today so that I could go on My Lot. Next time I might take my laptop if the guest house has free Internet connection. Then I will be able to go on My Lot every evening after sightseeing.

I find so much truth in that. I too, get so upset when in a day I couldn't lay my eyes on mylot. And it's funny how we are supposed to worry about real things getting undone because mylot is eating so much of our time instead. Yes, I miss a few people when I can't mylot, or when they can't mylot. It's really become a part of my system now that I won't mind if this site would never even offer any payout.
