I am one of the Lucky ones who unless something severe happens am pretty safe and secure where I work. I do know a lot of people here in this area who are unemployed and out there looking for work, and it is hard to find something. My husband is safe where he works as well, and it is nice knowing that. But at the same time my heart and prayers are with those who are struggling right now, and wonder when things can ever turn around for us all as well.

Guys, I had the same experience as you all did. I got laid off my job a couple of years ago. I was hopeless and desperate. But then I thought I need to make money no matter what it takes (even if I had to rob a bank). Instead of finding another new job, I decided to create one. So, I contacted several of my ex-customer and offered them maintenance services. It took me sometime to get a few customers.
There are a lot of work for IT people. If you visit Canadian immigration, Australian Immigration, Singapore Immigration, etc you'll see that IT people are still among their 'demanded skilled worker'.
Being an IT professional is not always being an employee. You can be a consultant, a self-employed business owner. Which ever you choose, you have to upgrade your skill and certification because IT is always updated and you have to catch up. Go to websites like brainbench to get your skill certified, then promote yourself either for an employment or for business. Good luck guys

Yes, I am jobless, has been since June 2008. It is not easy trying to find a job. It is affecting me very much now, I have run out of savings and am now having a tough time paying for my housing and other bills. The bad thing that happened today, is that my husband was let go from his job. Now the both of us are unemployed. OH, BOY!!!!!!!!!

Yes, sure am. I have been looking for work since June of 2008. I have been a stay at home mom for almost 11 years now and need to help supplement the income due to the economy. My brother in law just got laid off from a company where he worked for 11 years, so its affecting so many people from all over the world now. All I can do is be hopeful that one day soon I will be part of the working world. Good Luck to you and be safe!
